AIBU?

Genuinely feeling mortified for Jo Swinson

Wow that was kick in the balls if ever I have seen one. Jesus how absolutely humiliating. I was curling up just watching the footage last night, and then the clip about her claims that she will be PM.

Just mortifying on every level.

I hope she is able to leave with a shred of dignity, because I am not sure she is ever going to recover her creditability after last night's carnage. She was seriously out of touch, and she paid the ultimate price.

Considering her comments about self ID, she deserves this and more. She was a lunatic.

She set herself up for it. The contempt for women's rights. the strange, arrogant, insistence that she could be the next PM. Her general smugness.

I have no real sympathy with Johnson, Corbyn, OR Swinson, as individuals. It's been an unsettling election.

Funny how the smugness of male MPs gets a much more muted reaction.

She deserves all she gets. Look at her voting record. She's an opportunist out for all she can get.
I am actually really happy she lost out. She's way to the right of most senior Tories.

Just desserts there, I feel.

Lib Dem’s actually increased the numbers voting for them but due to our shit system they lost out

I do not feel anything for her. She has had her eyes opened to the fact that people think she talks shite. At least she’s enlightened now.

It wasn't just her ludicrous views on self ID, if you listened to any of her interviews (Woman's hour, the today programme, LBC) they were all complete car crashes, on every issue. She couldn't defend any of her policies.

She's the living embodiment of the Peter Principle: that people get promoted till they reach their level of incompetence.

Well I do feel sorry for her but come on, cringe cringe cringe
what the fuck was she thinking

After her car crash interviews where she couldn't even define the word 'woman' (it's adult human female, female of the sex class that produces large gametes, Jo) or count the number of sexes (there are two, Jo, just two, male and female) I have no sympathy whatsoever. Good riddance to the fool.

Report
Provincialbelle · 13/12/2019 11:07

Funny you should say “kick in the balls” given her total inability to define “woman” despite the rest of us learning that before school for crying out loud.

She badly misjudged her brexit strategy (as did Labour). I feel somewhat sorry for her, but at the same time the opposition parties need to play a WHOLE lot smarter.

I don’t feel in the least bit sympathetic to Swinson. In the last week before the election, she was unable to answer a simple question about whether she believes in biological sex. Her incoherent attempt to defend an incoherent ideology was a failure. This is what happens when you use a Twitter echo chamber to formulate policies you can’t explain. She deserved to lose her seat.

Report
ohprettybaby · 13/12/2019 11:11

It was a shock but she only lost by 149 votes. I don't agree with her views but feel a bit sorry for her today.

She deserves absolutely everything she fucking gets. She sold out her fellow women lock, stock and barrel.

Not an ounce of sympathy here.

150 women might have voted for her if she wasn't taking their rights to safety, privacy and dignity away...

At least Jo Swinson now knows what a woman is -

an adult human female with a vote

A kick in the balls was my attempt at humour given her views. I did see she was misguided, but did not expect her to lose her seat. Ah the agony of seeing her face, and when she tried to clap I could have cried for her. I don't like her, but would not wish that one anyone. All on the world stage too.

She should spend some time learning basic biology.

Someone on Twitter said Turns out having a seat is a strict binary.

I laughed.

She seemed to struggle under scrutiny almost every time. She should have had some PR training as she really didn’t seem to know how to talk to people.

Her voting record... hmmm.

She had it coming.
