AIBU?

Not to pay the £80 back to friend?

18 months ago I lent a friend £200 so we could buy some tickets to two events.
I paid for mine and hers and the agreement was in a couple of months she would pay me back.
She said she would put the train tickets £80 on mums credit card and I would give her the £80 on the day of travel.
Now fast forward a year and she hadn't paid and the event was in two weeks.
I asked her about the £200 and she turned nasty..saying I was greedy and telling other friends I was pestering a poor woman with 3 kids for £200.
Now ..she gets over £1400 a month, doesn't pay full rent and is bragging on Facebook all the time about money she's spending.
Going on weekends away and spa days ..but couldn't pay me back,I had enough.
I told her I wasn't going on this trip (she still had another girl going to the events with her )
And to take the £80 I owed her mum out of the £200 she owed me.
She refused and started saying I ripped her mum off to everyone.
Now 6 months after that kicked off..she hasn't paid a penny to me and text saying she wants me to set up a payment plan of £20 a week to clear the £80 to her mum.
I'm not doing it..aibu ?

Tell her you’ll pay her back after she pays you back £200.

In fact tell her to set up a payment plan for £120.

reply: great, I'll set up a payment plan of £20 per month for what you owe me, and then I'll set up one to pay you, fair?

She wouldn’t be my friend any more. Don’t pay her a penny!

Well she isn't a friend anymore is she? Everyone needs to stay out of each other's business not go around airing dirty laundry and slagging each other off with mutual acquaintances. I'd write the money off along with the friendship tbh. Or if you haven't given her the ticket you've paid for, withhold it or sell them on.

Don't pay but also remember "neither a borrower or lender be".

Money arrnagments like this with anyone but the very closest friends/family is asking for trouble, imo.

Her line was
My mum is a very rich lady, and she didn't get rich by letting people off with debts.
If she's so "rich" why doesn't she lend £120 to pay me back.

Tell her that's a great idea. She can set up a payment plan to pay the £80 back to her mum at the rate of £20 per week, and when she has finished that, she can continue on the same plan to repay you the remaining £120.

I am always gobsmacked when people behave this way. Who the fuck does she think she is?

I can’t imagine anyone being able to say YABU! Your friend has got some nerve hasn’t she, disgusting attitude.

No, that's bonkers! Why would you give her £80 when she owes you £200?! Tell her to take it out of what she owes you, and she can set up a payment plan of £20 a week to pay you back the remaining £120.

Wow the ultimate cheeky fucker. Are you able to sell the tickets?

YANBU. Ditch her, block her and tell her mum that her daughter now owes her the £80 as well as still owing you £120.

Did anyone use the £200 worth of tickets to these events? If so - was it her?

Do you have evidence of you lending her the £200? if so I would send this to her mum. Seems to me like shes using you as an excuse to her mum about why she hasnt been paid back the £80. Make it very clear that you are also owed money and that is why you arent paying for the train tickets

Tell her you are taking her to the small claims court for the money she owes you.

Yes she used the tickets and took another girl with them (who clearly got my ticket free )
Not proof as such but I have texts of her acknowledging what she owes.
