Social Services Involvement After Doctor Visit

I really hope I'm posting in the right place, apologies if not. So me and my partner woke up on Thursday morning and our 11 week old baby had a nasty bruise around his ear. He also has a couple of bruises on the top of his forehead, which we know about because he throws his head around a lot when carrying him and often he will bang his head against mine or my shoulder. Anyway, we took him to the doctor regarding the bruise on his ear thinking we were doing the right thing and now we're being accused of child abuse! Since Thursday morning the bruise has totally gone down and his barely visible however social services are already involved. I've explained multiple times that the bruise was clearly caused by him laying on that side of his head every night and probably 75% of the time he's asleep on mine or my partners chest, however we keep getting told that its an unexplained bruise and we may face having him taken away from us! I don't understand how I can give an explaination and it just be thrown out like that, we are being bullied! My partner is having to stay with him in the hospital while they do all these tests on a perfectly healthy baby, and its not looking like it will be any sooner than Tuesday or Wednesday before we get some kind of decision as to what is happening. We have also been told that we will have to be interviewed by police under caution regarding this and we will be given free legal advice however my mother is going to help me look into a solicitor. Has anyone been through this? What should I expect? What was your outcome? I feel like I'm getting no straight answers for anything because these are false allegations. Surely someone with a serious case would be able to clearly answer simple questions regarding the matter without shoving it off with the same generic "its procedure". I'm all for following procedure, but this has gone beyond that. PLEASE someone offer me something we're at our wits end!
