In what way?

I think it depends on what you view feminist as.

A feminist is someone who puts women front and centre and considers the impact what she says or does has on other women.

I think a wider spectrum of people are joining and because of that, we are getting a wider spectrum of views.

The useless/abusive male apologiests get quickly shot down. Usually with constructive reasons why they are wrong, so that might be helpful in changing views.

YABU. I clicked on active threads.
First thread was Trans bashing in disguise.
Second thread was benefit bashing thread.
Third thread was people mocking the op for wanting to have another child.
Fourth is about single sex spaces.
Conclusion: Feminism is alive and well on Mumsnet.

It was always thus, to be honest. Thread on thread of 'feminism is killing mumsnet and it's really boring and they've got their own section anyway so why can't they just post there and keep their pesky opinions to themselves?'

Or 'what is feminism?' threads with post on post of 'I'm an equalist, what about my Norman, hairy joyless bra-burners etc etc'

NAMNALT came from somewhere you know!

@OutThereSomewhere you have a strange and erroneous impression of feminism.

Out of the top 20 posts in feminist chat 19 are about trans issues.

Conservatives have proposed a reform of the family courts re DV combining criminal and family courts into one. Not a peep.

I'll leave that juxtaposition there

I think the overall feminist vibe that MN had when I joined 8 years ago has been diluted somewhat and that the feminism section is not as interesting as it was back in the day.

Yes- there have always been threads like that. But (I hope this isn’t too TAATy) there’s a thread about a fictional teenage girl who was groomed by a teacher, and posters are seriously suggesting she groomed him. And there are ^sp many* threads about crap men in relationships where people do the classic “men don’t see dirt/birthdays/Christmas/crying babies/gaping holes in their own emotional responses”...

Yep - there’s a bill in Ohio saying that an embryo removed in surgery for an ectopic pregnancy has to be reimplanted. Our reproductive rights are under attack.

To me a feminist is someone who advocates for and believes in the equality of the sexes. I do not agree with putting women front and centre because that would mean female supremacy.

Agree. Other issues to do with feminism don’t get a mention. It pretty much just a trans issues board now, when there’s plenty of other things going on with regards to feminism.

A feminist is someone who puts women front and centre and considers the impact what she says or does has on other women.

I think many people are adamant that feminism is about creating equality - having one sex at the ‘forefront’ and ‘centre’ does not quite level with that. Also there are are many definitions of feminism... so you forgot to put ‘in my view’ or ‘I think’ at the beginning of your sentence.

I don't always put "in my view" because if I am stating it, then it's my view. Women are often expected to do that bit of "niceness" when they are stating their opinions.

Feminism is about the liberation of women from oppression.

There's nothing to be gained from 'muh equaliteeeeeee' within an inherently patriarchal system. That's such a myopic view that only shows an extreme lack of any kind of political/systemic analysis. If you're going to do things by halves, you might as well not bother.

And this is what's known as tone policing.
Why can't you all just be niiice?
