AIBU?

To get so excited about a trip to IKEA?

DH thinks I am a complete saddo.
I love IKEA. The meatballs, the creche, the stuff...everything.
I get excited getting out of the car and feel like a 12 year old at Alton Towers.
Obviously we don't go very often
Am I the only person that gets so excited about looking at all the bargain items?

Nope, I get excited every time and end up feeling sick on the motorway.

We only go around my birthday as a treat. Dh tells me to get it delivered.

yanbu ... I love it too - which is not so good for my bank balance as I only live 10 minutes drive from the one in Cardiff Bay.

DS asks to go to IKEA if he's been good as he loves going in the creche!

My so called friend dragged me along on the last trip and we were still at the check out at midnight!
I had about 6 things she nearly had 2 trollies worth! It was quiet though at that time.

Great about being north, as Warrington is so easy to get to. I used to hate going there when I lived South.

YANBU.

I was going to go on a lovely outing to Ikea this morning with my mother. Had spent yesteday afternoon perusing the catalogue. I was going to buy jars, and scissors (always buy scissors) and maybe a cushion. And have a slice of that dime bar cake.

Got up nice and early. Did hair and make up.

Went to dress dd's (they were going to nursery). Both have chicken pox.

Curses

A friend & I do a road trip to Ikea every so often! We get a night out and chance to chat etc on the way there!!

Oh dear yes you are...

I hate, Hate HATE the place. I don't like most of the furniture, hate the way they 'guide you round' the shop, and utterly detest the warehouse bit at the end. If we didn't have soooo many books (and need bookcases), I would never set foot in the place again.

To add insult they charge you extra to pay by credit card.

i too love ikea. i can make a full afternoon of it - take dcs there for lunch then put them in the creche for an hour for the joy of browsing alone. then gets dcs back and spend ages on kids section, then an ice-cream and home.

simple pleasures...

I quite like it too. I only live 5 mins away though and the novelty will probably wear off once we've lived here a while.

My only gripe is that they won't give me any allergy info for the cafe so I can't risk giving ds many of the things off the menu.

I always buy scissors too!!
I came home with some today and dh was like "why?"!!
Had the daim cake and looked at everything. I am loving the new catalogue. I really want to buy a POANG chair, but am afraid I will break it and never live it down with the kids. I am not that heavy, but I am skeptical about that chair.
Dd played and had a blast. It is like a special day out for kids.
I cannot help but wonder why so many other European countries are family friendly and the UK is not at all! Almost all of the EU has a children welcome policy and mine cannot even come into the garden of our local pub!
BTW, we do live in London. Maybe that's why!!

I adore Ikea too.

Never use the creche or eat there though. Apart from a hot dog at the end. Thats the only thing that keeps dh from going mad as we go round.
Dh just wants to get what we need and go. Whereas I want to wander round and savor every section. He'd never tollerate stopping for a meal!!

I love it, despite the rows (and dh and I hardly ever have rows, only at IKEA).

Last time I got a meat thermometer for something like £4 when they were £12 everywhere else. Yay!

sugarmatches. Those Ikea scissors are just at too good a price not to buy them. You really can never have too many pairs of Ikea scissors.

LOL @ Kathy's meat theromometer.
