Answering door in pyjamas

I’ve ordered some early lunch on Deliveroo (under the weather and hungry). I’ll be in for the whole day, chilling in pyjamas.

Aibu to answer the door in pyjamas and dressing gown? Is it rude?

Shoxfordian Thu 21-Nov-19 12:06:06

Its fine, carry on

PickAChew Thu 21-Nov-19 12:06:35

It would be more rude to not answer the door.

adaline Thu 21-Nov-19 12:07:33

It's absolutely fine.

AryaStarkWolf Thu 21-Nov-19 12:08:10

of course it isn't, food delivery people are well used to this I'd imagine

Bluewall Thu 21-Nov-19 12:09:29

It's your house of course you can answer the door in PJ's. As long as you are not exposing yourself I doubt they will care and even if they do they will be gone in 10 seconds and you will never see them again.

If you are really worried put a hoodie on and they will never known

I think as long as you are not naked then you can answer your own front door wearing whatever you please.

ToeNailSoup Thu 21-Nov-19 12:11:05

confused

MN is absolutely baffling sometimes.

Goodness me, yes of course it is! I have all sorts of trade people around when I'm pyjama'd up albeit they look like a comfy tracksuit rather than sexy teddy of course wink

PBo83 Thu 21-Nov-19 12:12:00

Yep, absolutely fine. I normally only order takeaway in the evening so by then I'm in "work clothes off - dressing gown on" mode. The same should apply for lazy days off...enjoy!

I don't know, I've done some delivery work in my time and this might just make my day! (A joke of course)

BeyondMyWits Thu 21-Nov-19 12:14:20

Once when DD was a baby I answered the door to the Tesco delivery driver with my left boob out.

HE DID NOT SAY A WORD!

PJs AND dressing gown should be fine...

ShinyGiratina Thu 21-Nov-19 12:15:43

I had to internet order new trousers after DS was born as I had nothing except a couple of smarter dresses that fitted comfortably. I hope the postman was sufficiently distracted by the cute baby and oversized cardigan to not realise that the only functional trousers I owned were in his hands grin

elQuintoConyo Thu 21-Nov-19 12:17:50

What if you don't have a door in your pyjamas? grin

mumwon Thu 21-Nov-19 12:57:32

when a kid I remember ddad being amused by men going to newspaper shop to get paper on Sunday morning getting out of their cars wearing pj (shorties!)!

chellochello Thu 21-Nov-19 13:01:28

as long as its not a sexy see through pair - I'm sure you'll be fine!

aLilNonnyMouse Thu 21-Nov-19 13:03:03

I do this every day. I only change into normal clothes when I'm leaving the house, I wear PJs at home all the time.

Lllot5 Thu 21-Nov-19 13:03:19

Funny place to have a door!
Honestly it’s fine they’ve seen it all before.

jaseyraex Thu 21-Nov-19 13:03:22

I've just answered the door to uber eats in my fluffy disney pyjamas. It's fine grin

noworlater13 Thu 21-Nov-19 13:03:28

I called for take away and told the guy that I loved him at the end of the call.

Pjs is no issue at all.

ArnoldWhatshisknickers Thu 21-Nov-19 13:05:07

I'm in the middle of getting a kitchen fitted and have been answering the door to workmen while wearing jammies and goonie all week.

Plus the odd Amazon delivery as Christmas is coming and my daughter's birthday is next week.

No one has batted an eyelid.

I also used to nip to the shop in jammies when it was just along the street and regularly put bins out or nip down to my car for something while wearing jammies. See my neighbours doing the same all the time.

userxx Thu 21-Nov-19 13:12:32

goonie - WTF?

Snugglepumpkin Thu 21-Nov-19 13:16:14

I only wear non pyjamas in the house if I am expecting guests.
Delivery people or random politicians looking for my vote get my pjs & dressing gown if it's cold enough.

I do however deliberately buy the sort of pyjamas that look like day clothes.

Nobody has ever batted an eyelid.

Expressedways Thu 21-Nov-19 13:18:09

I do this regularly in the evening as I’m usually straight out of work clothes and into pyjamas. Unless your PJs consist of a sexy neglige (mine most definitely do not) then I’m baffled why you’re even asking!

PeppyPiggy Thu 21-Nov-19 13:19:34

haha, I've answered the door after having had a face peel before... imagine, a woman answering the door with most of her face hanging off. You're fine
