Who has stolen my husbands wallet this evening!

Over £150 in cash gone, payments made via contactless on both cards before he could cancel them, and numerous other important cards such as his licence and sentimental bits and pieces probably dumped in a bush somewhere.

Fortunately there is CCTV of him taking the wallet although I'm doubtful it will come to much even if they can identify the arsehole.

I know I'm not unreasonable but I honestly have never felt rage like it and I could just do with a sympathetic ear to listen to me vent. I just want to find them and do unspeakable things to them and I'm not a violent person in the slightest.

Is there anything with your address? I know it's a very slim chance, but someone could come across it and return it to him, if there is obviously personal stuff in there.

The bank said they couldn't refund as the payments were showing as pending so they had to wait until they had gone through which seemed odd to me.

There is some information in there with his address on so I live in hope someone with a conscience finds it and returns the sentimental bits.

23 years ago I got pick pocketed for my Filofax on Oxford Street. They must have thought it was my purse as it was found in a bin. A gentleman posted it back to me. There are good people in the world and I hope your dh gets his stuff back

I've also just found out that to replace a stolen driving licence he will have to pay £20 for the privilege which has set off the red mist inside of me again!

Two men broke into my house early in July to steal my son's car keys. They took my car keys, spare house keys, and my purse. I disturbed them trying to steal my car. Even though I've moved house I have started having panic attacks when I'm here on my own at night. I am SO angry at the scum who felt it was OK to break into my house and take something that my son works hard for and something which is his pride and joy. And I'm even angrier that I'm letting it affect me the way it is. There was no way that they could ever catch them but I wish I could have just five minutes in a room with them

Some horror took £15 from my DD (7) wallet when we’re on a girls day out shopping. Wallet was handed in to the shop. Minus the money. Clearly a child’s wallet.

Does he usually carry cash like that. I never carry any cash I can avoid and never keep it in the house - gave me satisfaction when I was burgled that they didn't get any despite searching every crevice.

Suggest your DH registers with CIFAs as the driving license is likely to have been sold to a criminal gang specialising in fraud. There is now a market for them in the UK and CIFAs can give you advice re: identity theft

This is how I feel. I know even if they are caught they will probably get a slap on the wrist and yet me and DH are left counting the cost of replacing everything and the stress of the whole situation. Meanwhile they are probably thoroughly enjoying themselves on our behalf without a care in the world.

That's correct, because if it's pending, the payment has only been authorised by the bank. The money hasn't actually been taken from your account (yet).

No it was just sods law that today he had cash on him.

I am so sorry this has happened to you, it’s utterly shit. Years ago my bag was stolen in a cemetery while I tended my granddad’s grave. Utter scum doing that 😡. Fortunately I didn’t have a lot of cash in it but lost all my cards and ID. It also had my original birth certificate in it because I’d just got married and was using it a lot for changing things over. I was devastated about that. Also my makeup bag with some nice stuff in it. Later in the evening a man rang me to tell me that he’d found my bag in a hedge. He’d got my number out of my diary which was still in there and I’d filled in the personal info bit in the front. It was so kind of him, it meant I got back some photos and other sentimental things. The biggest issue I had was bloody Blockbuster video because the thief repeatedly used the card and kept videos despite it being reported. I lived 30 miles away but they assumed I kept driving that far to steal their sodding videos 🙄. It’s a horrible, invasive experience. I hope somebody is kind enough to return the items if the wallet turns up.

That's why I don't have contactless, even if people think I'm a dinosaur! It only takes someone to pickpocket you or you leave it somewhere and they can go down the high street spending £30 a time everywhere they fancy.

I was burgled for the first time a few months ago and I felt so angry that some twat felt entitled to walk on my new carpets with his muddy shoes and take our stuff.

There are lovely people too. I've left money in the Asda self-service till a couple of times and the money was handed in to staff, who filed it away neatly by date order.

Another time at work (huge place) some tenners fell out of my pocket once, like Hansel and Gretel leaving breadcrumbs. Someone collected them and handed them into Reception. I was so shocked when I asked about if someone had handed in, I wasn't expecting that.

Things like that do restore my faith in human nature.

I've returned wallets and purses on various occasions. I used to work near a local DVLA office and took back a DL I had found. I cycle a fair bit and you sometimes get to know the rat runs that criminals use as dumping grounds. There are some routes I cycle where I often find stuff that's obviously been nicked then dumped. Police may have knowledge as well. Long shot but you could ask and then go looking yourself. Horrible that you're in that situation but you may get some things back.

I was pickpocketed, I was with my 3yo DD in the local town centre but in a quiet area so we was the only ones around, this man appeared and distracted me by first of all talking to my DD then trying to take my DDs hand, when I hurried her away to where I could see a group of people, obviously shitting my pants thinking this man twice the size of me was trying to take my child, He took my purse from my pocket.
There was CCTV but wasn't identified, although the police had a 'idea' of who it could have been.

In the grand scheme of things I was obviously glad my DD was ok over money and cards but I was so shook up over it.

Also, my sister had her (empty) purse and passport returned when she had her bag stolen on a night out. Someone had chucked it over the fence into a park. And I once lost a phone and had someone call my OHs number to say they had found it and was leaving it in a cafe.

Ive also returned keys and a bank card myself. And I was super proud a month or so ago when a man Infront of us outside the shop dropped his wallet and a driving license and my DD picked it up and instantly shouted and ran after him.

It does make you wonder doesn't it. At a quick guesstimate they've enjoyed about £300 on our behalf. So my DH going to work today has basically left him in the red. I wish I had a job where i could make so much in just a few hours.

Glad to know the information from the bank is correct I'll have to follow it up with a call to get a refund once payments have been confirmed.

My card declines after 3 contactless payments. This is horribly embarrassing but I know that nobody would be able to take more than 90 quid. I hate that I’ve fallen into the contactless culture and might ask for a card without that feature. It’s such a risk these days 😕.
