For of us sharing a car.
3 hour journey there
3 hour back
She says it will cost £120 petrol
So charging £30 each
Do you think that's correct ?

KenAdams Thu 07-Nov-19 20:37:32

What does she drive?

sadaboutlife Thu 07-Nov-19 20:37:58

A Citroen c1

Skihound Thu 07-Nov-19 20:38:07

Depends on the car driving 6 hours would be approx a full tank of diesel for me costing approx £75 in total.

clpsmum Thu 07-Nov-19 20:38:25

It will not cost £120!

Elbeagle Thu 07-Nov-19 20:38:29

Depends on the car I suppose.
We drove to Norfolk and back recently (3.5 hour drive each way) and used a tank of petrol, so £65ish (large 7 seater).

curlykaren Thu 07-Nov-19 20:39:10

What kind of car?

Elbeagle Thu 07-Nov-19 20:39:24

I suppose she could be charging for wear and tear on her car.
Could you drive if it’s an issue?

WaterSheep Thu 07-Nov-19 20:39:55

I have a Citeron C1, and it takes less than £50 to fill it up. She's making a tidy profit from you all.

LoonyLunaLoo Thu 07-Nov-19 20:41:07

A Citroen C1 😂 it’ll be £30 MAX! I used to use £40 a week driving for at least 2 hours a day 5 days a week.

WaterSheep Thu 07-Nov-19 20:41:10

Citroen Not sure what a Citeron is. grin

Candle1000 Thu 07-Nov-19 20:41:14

Only if she’s driving a Ferrari!

delilahbucket Thu 07-Nov-19 20:41:53

Not just petrol, but wear and tear to the car, and the fact that she will be driving for six hours on everyone's behalf. Don't want to pay? Arrange your own travel. Bet it will cost you more than £30.

Loveislandaddict Thu 07-Nov-19 20:41:58

What’s the distance?

My car costs £50-60 for approx. 300 miles. My dh’s car is more fuel efficient than that.

Lotus90 Thu 07-Nov-19 20:42:00

Wow, she's ripping you off there for sure. I can't see it being any more than half that

Namechangeforthiscancershit Thu 07-Nov-19 20:42:02

It does seem quite a lot for a C1. Say no and drive yourself for a lot less.

Mizydoscape Thu 07-Nov-19 20:42:11

I have a citroen c1. Filling the tank costs around £32. The range indicator on my car says a full tank will do roughly 315 miles. I'm assuming the majority of the journey will be motorway. I think she's charging too much

Elbeagle Thu 07-Nov-19 20:42:51

Sorry x post. No a Citroen C1 won’t cost anything like that in petrol.

Elbeagle Thu 07-Nov-19 20:43:37

6 hours driving is pretty hard on her though.

Lordamighty Thu 07-Nov-19 20:43:40

45p per mile is the HMRC mileage allowance. If you can work out the distance then you can calculate what is fair but if she wants £30pp then you either pay or make other arrangements.

sadaboutlife Thu 07-Nov-19 20:43:51

It's less than 400 miles in total

custardbear Thu 07-Nov-19 20:44:08

Ridiculous - I drive a 2 litre BMW diesel and that would be a tank - so about half her cost

mummmy2017 Thu 07-Nov-19 20:44:16

Get her to pull into a petrol station and top up.... All have some cash in hand, and make sure you have change.
Give her 1/4 each of the sum.
The you can ask her

SheChoseDown Thu 07-Nov-19 20:44:18

Sounds fine. 15 quid each way.
Is it a 3 hour journey on motorway or country rds? Lots if factors. But sounds fine

AaaaaaarghhhWhereAreMyKeys Thu 07-Nov-19 20:44:27

It would cost no more than £60 for me
