Baylis & Harding is shit isn't it?

It's all I see in the shops, beautifully packaged and expensive sets. However having sampled them I am always left underwhelmed.

The bottles look like they've been made as cheaply as possible. They buckle the moment you've opened them.
The fragrances are so minor as to be virtually unnoticeable.
Same with the creams and body lotions.
They always seem all style and no substance.

Or am I being unreasonable?

As an aside they are among the most donated unused items our charity gets for raffles. So they do have a use grin

Yanbu, they sell this crap by the ton at garden centres and people buy it to give to people they don’t really give a toss about.
I got some the other year so I know where I stand now!

BrightYellowDaffodil Tue 05-Nov-19 12:20:10

YANBU. It’s a cheap Molton Brown imitator.

Justmuddlingalong Tue 05-Nov-19 12:22:32

I'd gratefully receive bugger all if baylis and harding was the alternative. It's like a shit rolled in glitter. All sparkly, but still shit underneath.

Yes it's utter junk. Got a set from BIL many, many years ago, when I hadn't heard of them. Thought, wow, this looks lovely … what a disappointment. Watery crap that smells of barely anything.

I hate it. Shower gel blobs onto your hand then promptly slides off in a lump onto the shower floor. It cannot be lathered.

The fragrances are lovely, but the texture is a bit rum - very gloopy - and I find you need a ton of it to larger up.

It makes me irrationally angry...they've spent all their money on making it look posh and Molton Brown-esque, and then just put nasty cheap stuff in the bottles.

Bluntness100 Tue 05-Nov-19 12:30:40

Yes it's cheap shit product. Packaging looks ok but that's it, the product itself is shite.

VaggieMight Tue 05-Nov-19 12:31:06

It's a Molton Brown rip off, load of crap, can't believe it's become so popular (in the shops).

AmmarettoSours Tue 05-Nov-19 12:32:59

i always ask dp for a bayliss and harding set for xmas blush runs for cover

Princesspickle777 Tue 05-Nov-19 12:33:05

It’s cheap crap sold in most supermarkets. I wouldn’t dream of buying it anyone but have been bought it before. Normally I give to the school raffles but the one set I got given last has my name on it!.

MyOtherProfile Tue 05-Nov-19 12:35:33

YABU. One of their handsoaps is my favourite ever soapy smell. A brown blokey kind of smell - ginger and pepper or something. Haven't got a clue about the rest of their stuff as I've never used it.

ShirleyPhallus Tue 05-Nov-19 12:38:00

It's all I see in the shops, beautifully packaged and expensive sets.

Expensive?! They’re really cheapo, our local pound store sells them!

Coughsyrupsucks Tue 05-Nov-19 12:41:06

YANBU it’s utter crap.

KatherineJaneway Tue 05-Nov-19 12:42:05

It's made to make people feel like they have Molton Brown when it is a much cheaper product.

Witchinaditch Tue 05-Nov-19 12:42:19

I buy it for people I don’t really like, I’d buy cowshed stuff for the people I love.

misspiggy19 Tue 05-Nov-19 12:43:37

*Expensive?! They’re really cheapo, our local pound store sells them!*

^This. They have never been anywhere near expensive.

Celebelly Tue 05-Nov-19 12:44:39

Yeah it's for casual acquaintances or to have in stock as emergency gifts when someone gives you a present that you weren't expecting. Mind you, we are using the hand wash from last year's distant family member in the downstairs bathroom.

shearwater Tue 05-Nov-19 12:44:58

The soaps are all right and smell nice, and don't dry my skin out. I get them if they are on special offer.

Nottobesoldseparately Tue 05-Nov-19 12:45:00

Some of its ok, some of its shit.
Like most brands!

SchadenfiendeUnmortified Tue 05-Nov-19 12:45:24

Yes it is!

Absolute shite!

I would rather get nothing than this rubbish.

It always ends up in the charity shop.

dipstyque Tue 05-Nov-19 12:46:18

I'm sure it used too basically be a pound shop version of Molton Brown. Like Lindt and Tresemme, brands that were cheapo versions, and therefore sold lots(?) and are now everywhere as the new normal. (Think I do prefer lindt to Cadbury tbh)

Chloemol Tue 05-Nov-19 12:46:47

I like it and use it

dipstyque Tue 05-Nov-19 12:47:04

I do but the B&H handwash but I don't kid myself it's posh
