it has appeared several times, imo it's really is a stupid expression. someone 'invents' an expression and the herd mentality follow thinking it's edgy or cool.
possibly bu not really bothered in the long run/

Not seen it on MN. It's a really old expression though.

this expression has been used for decades.

It’s not just been invented, I heard that expression during my 70’s childhood. There’s no need to put quotation marks around the word invent.

Its piss or get off the pot where I am. Still awful but definitely not a new thing.

I've seen it around on Mumsnet.
It's not a new phrase at all. It is horrible though.

It’s not new, it’s at least as old as me and that’s quite old.

I first read it in a John Updike novel years ago. It’s not new. Isn’t every expression invented?

Piss or get off the pot has been in use at least since I was young, which was some decades ago.....this variant is cruder and sadly not alliterative but also not new......did you think it was, OP, or are you just saying you don't like people using it?

It's a very old expression. Doesn't it refer to night potties from the days when there were no inside toilets??

Is it the new CF that everyone seems to be using....

It’s a very old saying. I like it.

alcon okay it's not new, but i've only started seeing this expression on mn since yesterday and it was used several times by posters in the same thread and a thread today. dole thanks for that, but it's my thread and i didn't ask you to be grammar teacher for today.Smile
'ducks in a row' 'have a spa day' and many others have been used on here in the past but thankfully die the death, let's hope this one does too sooner rather than later.

The 'is the the hill you choose to ide on' expression that was rife recently that annoyed me. I've know piss or get off the pot for years. Not the classiest saying Grin

Never heard it before but I'm not a fan. Didn't find snapped and farted funny either but I was in the minority

It's not the classiest of expressions but it's very old and, if you're referring to the marriage proposal thread, was used appropriately. I can't see it being used all that often as it can only be used in quite specific circumstances.

As others have said it's not new but I haven't heard it in decades until recently when I was watching Year of the Rabbit with Matt Berry

I use that one occasionally.

I was once accused of assuming the poster who I aimed it at was smoking weed.

It’s got some ground to cover if it’s going to challenge “Turkeys voting for Christmas” in the inane cliche stakes.

It's not new but it is a bit vulgar.
