To ask for Mumsnet to help with a small wedding hiccup?

NC as this is identifying! But Center parks, penis beaker, cancel the cheque etc.

I’m getting married in two weeks. Quite a few things have gone wrong along the way, including replanning the whole thing at a new venue after the original one had a huge fire a few months ago.

Anyway, this is a small thing.. but one of my five bridesmaids has just told me she lost the wrap I bought for her. They’re probably going to need them on the day as it’s November!
So I went online to buy her another only to find they don’t sell them any more. I can’t seem to find anything similar.

I was wondering if any of you vipers please have one lying around that I can buy off you?
It’s the showcase, silver satin wrap from Dorothy Perkins. Link here: https://www.dorothyperkins.com/en/dpuk/product/showcase-silver-satin-wrap-cover-up-8456880

I appreciate this is a small problem but it would look much better if they all match. I’m honestly not a bridezilla grin

I can't help you with the wrap but I would repost your request with the title asking if anyone can help you locate a Dorothy Perkins wrap and then it's more likely to attract the attention of people who may be able to help.

Not everyone looks at the wedding threads.

Bumping for you-if I was you I would just buy some new (cheap!) scarves and not worry about it.Congrats on your wedding!

IndiGHOSTHEXagon Mon 21-Oct-19 22:05:22

I would either tweet or Facebook Dorothy Perkins with the description and item code explaining the problem and see if they can track one down. Someone suggested this to me with an item in next and it worked for me!

Weddinghiccup Mon 21-Oct-19 22:06:08

The thing is, they’re so nice, BigBairy!
And to be honest, after moving the wedding and rearranging it all we’re out of pocket by a few thousand pounds, so I don’t really have the spare cash to spend another £75 on a load more wraps!

Thanks Room I’m off to bed shortly, but might do another post tomorrow with that title if I don’t get much response. Didn’t really think this through did I!

Buy them all different coloured wraps from the same palette. ie shade of red or whatever

Collision Mon 21-Oct-19 22:10:40

How on earth did she lose it?

I hope she’s embarrassed and paying for the new one.

Soontobe60 Mon 21-Oct-19 22:11:07

What about this on Etsy?

Good idea Indi just tried tweeting them.

OhioOhioOhio Mon 21-Oct-19 22:11:29

Honestly. If you are happy your husband is the right and proper man he says then seriously don't worry about the scarves.

DonKeyshot Mon 21-Oct-19 22:12:01

Post again on the Style & Beauty board - if the folk there can't find it, it doesn't exist grin

BillHadersNewWife Mon 21-Oct-19 22:15:16

She probably doesn't like it. I bet she has it. She just doesn't want to wear a wrap.

Weddinghiccup Mon 21-Oct-19 22:15:41

Fuck knows how she’s lost it! But me being annoyed at her is a bit of a waste of energy right now. She said she will pay for a replacement.

I like the idea of different shades but they are already all wearing different dresses in the same colour. This part of their outfit was meant to be identical to pull everything together a bit.
That Etsy one isn’t a bad shout if I can’t find the same one in the next two weeks, thank you.

Weddinghiccup Mon 21-Oct-19 22:17:32

It’s not that she doesn’t like it. She helped me choose the bloody things!

LittleLongDog Mon 21-Oct-19 22:22:23

What a nightmare. Surely she has it somewhere?? Sod’s law she finds it right after the wedding.

PollyShelby Mon 21-Oct-19 22:24:13

Bumping in case anyone has one

pigsinarow Mon 21-Oct-19 22:27:14

Some of these responses are unintentionally hilarious.
Good luck OP!

Have a look on a EBay too

MissCharleyP Mon 21-Oct-19 22:29:52

Have a look on Amazon. I just typed ‘silver wrap shawl’ into their search and it brought up a few that might cut it. Sorry, it won’t let me do a link from my phone.

fifig87 Mon 21-Oct-19 22:30:45

Also try contact Debenhams, had a nose there and they used to also stock it.

RosesAndLilies Mon 21-Oct-19 22:33:29

Bump

Weddinghiccup Mon 21-Oct-19 22:33:42

I’ve tried EBay. No joy. I actually bought them from Debenhams so will try them too.

MutedUser Mon 21-Oct-19 22:34:39

Good luck OP

Aridane Mon 21-Oct-19 22:42:19

OP - I have found it for you!!!!!!

Wonkybanana Mon 21-Oct-19 22:43:17

She needs to look harder. Unless she's moved in the meantime, then either it's in the house somewhere, or she's worn it to another event and lost it that way.

In the meantime, would either of these be somewhere close?
