Step son wants to spend time with me alone! Bit freaked out.

Some may remember my post of last week where I'd been in and out of hospital and DH decided to go out for the evening, leaving me alone. Not normally an issue as he often goes out with his kids alone and I don't mind, but he was an hour away and I felt quite vulnerable and more than a little pissed off. There was a variety of responses, some said he was being unreasonable, and some said (most who hadn't read the thread) that I was trying to stop him seeing his kids. This is ridiculous as for as long as I can remember he's quite happily taken the kids out or spent evenings with them, without me around. I'm more than happy as I have a good circle of friends or love to spend time alone. Anyway, to get to the point. DSS is 20. He's young for his age and can act quite immature (from reading mumsnet this is quite common in young males). He didn't go to Uni, choosing instead to work even though most of his mates did go to Uni. He's decided to have a monster strop with his dad and they've really fallen out. This is quite out of character as they have a good relationship. The reason - he feels he can't come to our home (mine and DH) when DH is not there. He has NEVER been told this. To be honest, I wouldn't be entirely over the moon but wouldn't stop it. I met him when he was a teenager so we've never had a parental type bond. We don't have a lot in common, we get on, but obviously have totally different interests. But why would an adult male want to spend time with his stepmother when his father isn't around? I think it's a bit weird. What do you think? I've told his dad to deal with it without me getting involved. I just think he needs a big grow the fuck up chat.
