AIBU to think this is disgusting (needing a poo while on a run)

Not a poo troll I promise, just ... staggered(!) that one of my friends disagrees with me on this and wanted to gauge opinion!

Don’t ask how the subject came up but my friend H (herself a keen runner) mentioned in response to a news article that her friend J stops for poos during her run ... ‘ She has a stomach issue, running makes her poo 🤷‍♀’ apparantly J takes wet wipes with her but H has never asked if J takes dog poo bags / nappy bags with her, so we’re not sure if she picks it up or just leaves it.

H really really doesn’t see the issue, thinks it’s super judgey to think this is disgusting, says dogs bird etc all poo outside. My view point is that things like this are what separates us from the animals!

Of course if J had an accident and was cut short / poorly I would be so sympathetic, how horrible, but to habitually choose to do this - I think that’s grim!

What do you think mumsnet? Am I really being unreasonable?!

Some filthy human decided to do this on our private land and my dogs rolled in it.shockenvy

I couldn’t look at them for a week blush

So yes, disgusting selfish person.

Obviously it’s different if you accidentally soil yourself, but to deliberately sit and down and have a shite out doors is pretty disgusting. Is it not also an offence.

Shoxfordian Wed 16-Oct-19 10:05:57

Wow that's disgusting

Awwlookatmybabyspider Wed 16-Oct-19 10:07:20

A dog can’t physically sit on the toilet can it

EmmiJay Wed 16-Oct-19 10:07:34

Ffs. Just no. Wear an adult nappy or something. Just...who does that?!

TheQueef Wed 16-Oct-19 10:07:59

No need.

Minging

Depends how deep and dark the forest she runs through is... if round the local streets or a park, obviously not ok!
It is a big issue for runners, the motion does something to your digestion, but I'm sure there must be better ways to overcome it. An immodium before the run?

Tableclothing Wed 16-Oct-19 10:10:00

Yeah, if J knows they're going to do that they should take a trowel too.

I would also think of it slightly differently if J is running for 20 mins in central London versus 3 hours in a (very, very) rural place.

It is awful. She needs to buy an small indoor trampoline shake her shit out before she leaves.
There was a massive human shit on a 3 foot wall. It couldn't have been an animal.
Some people are rank.
Although in some countries the village walk to the sea to take their morning dump. 🤢

Whoops75 Wed 16-Oct-19 10:10:59

That’s grim but runners can be weird about having to run no matter what.

If it was me I would find another way to exercise.

WorraLiberty Wed 16-Oct-19 10:12:04

That's disgusting but I can't believe she had that conversation without asking her what she does with the poo.

I also can't believe I'm now wondering the same thing myself confused grin

MrGsFancyNewVagina Wed 16-Oct-19 10:12:06

I follow a female running group on FB and needing a poo while running is more common than you’d think, but most plan their runs around that, near toilets, or take bags with them. If wild running they also don’t shit where the public are liable to stroll through. It’s nit difficult to pick up FFS!

Tattooedmama Wed 16-Oct-19 10:12:20

If i was her and knew i would need to go when i run, i would ensure my route is by toilets or stay near home. Yes its grim

WorraLiberty Wed 16-Oct-19 10:12:54

She needs to buy an small indoor trampoline shake her shit out before she leaves. grin grin grin

Namechange84 Wed 16-Oct-19 10:13:25

Its grim. My parents stopped talking to our neighbours after we found their granddaughter taking a dump with her friend in our garden.

She was 14 at the time envy.

We caught her in the act, laughing hysterically with her friend, went round to the neighbours and asked if she could remove her turd from our garden. They refused and my parents and them have been at war since.

Your friend needs to plan a route with a public toilet she can access or use the treadmill at a gym or buy one for home.

I run and often need to do a poo during, even when having gone before, but I would rather soil myself than go on someone's land. This is why I limit my running distance. That said, if your friend runs in a wooded area, dug a hole, covered it over and did it discretely away from regular walking tracks, I don't see a problem with it. We do it when going camping in the wild.

RainbowBlanket Wed 16-Oct-19 10:14:38

I understand how hard it is when you’ve got stomach issues, when you need to go you need to go. But I avoid stuff that does that to me, or plan around it. So if running makes her poo I would find another way to work out, or run where there are public toilets.

mbosnz Wed 16-Oct-19 10:16:52

It is disgusting, and thoroughly anti-social. Running makes me poo, so I make sure I'm 'emptied out' first.

GrumpyHoonMain Wed 16-Oct-19 10:17:31

I have IBS and a brisk walk can sometimes make me need to go. I wear disposable incontinence undies and specialist running leggings that hold it all in and then clean myself up when I get home - most of my runner friends do the same.

EntropyRising Wed 16-Oct-19 10:18:38

Runners who need to poo should carry poo bags. Otherwise, I have to admire their tenacity, it's very easy to find excuses not to run.

Poing Wed 16-Oct-19 10:18:58

Whaaaat @grumpyHoonMain. Your runner friends do same? They keep running after?

Pandaintheporridge Wed 16-Oct-19 10:18:59

Good point, what do people do when camping wild? As long as she does whatever that is, is it really so disgusting? I think saying she should buy a treadmill for home is ridiculous, it's not the same experience at all, but she could investigate other ways to control her bowels too.

HeadintheiClouds Wed 16-Oct-19 10:19:35

Some people are unbelievably grim. 🤢. Unless you regularly run through Epping Forest, why wouldn’t you do the same thing anyone else has to when caught short in public, ie, find either a public toilet or a cafe or pub with facilities?
There is no excuse whatever for having a shite on a public path!
