AIBU?

Some people need to learn how to 'drive a trolley' in a supermarket!

Yesterday I did my weekly shop. I had a half full medium sized trolley and was walking in the main aisle with all the smaller side aisles off it. I would say that I had the right of way (I know this sounds pathetic!) when a woman with an overloaded extra large trolley came straight out at almost running speed of a side aisle into the main aisle without slowing down or stopping to go directly across to the opposite aisle. She barged into me at such force that loads of her groceries fell into my trolley and loads went on the floor! Then she shouted at me using the F word saying I should watch where I'm going to which I said she should have slowed down or stopped when coming out of the side aisle! Further on she had her trolley parked horizontal across a really small aisle while she was browsing stuff on the shelves so other shoppers had to keep saying excuse me to get by. Do some people have so sense of their surroundings or awareness in general? AIBU or was she?

YANBU, she sounds like an idiot.

I hate the people (mostly men) who slump over the trolley like they’ve been shot in the stomach and schlep around the supermarket.

Some people are idiots, full stop. I have stopped going to the supermarket at peak times since I got pregnant because I am so terrified of someone hitting me full whack like that - it’s happened a lot!

Well, I am not sure I agree you had full ROW actually!

The goods are all on the shelves your 'lane' was bisecting, so I consider your lane as a sort of non-shopping short cut/way out halfway down the aisle.

(I may be overthinking this!)

That said, she sounds like a loon and best avoided.

As for the trolley, I just move them of they are in my way. Don't bother asking people - if they are so stupid as to leave it there there's no point! (I always walk through groups of people who decide the middle of an aisle is the best time and place for a lengthy conversation)

@Sexnotgender lol about some people looking like they've been shot in the stomach!
@BuzzShitbagBobbly I don't think I'd bother moving someone else's trolley as some people leave their bags in it and wouldn't want them thinking I was going to steal something! Silly I know!

I refer you back to my point about them being stupid Grin
You can simply nudge it with your own trolley if that's better. But honestly, just move it out of your way. Fretting that somebody might randomly accuse you of potential theft in a place filled with cameras and where they are the ones causing a clear obstruction is a bit OTT!

I had a very similar encounter with a woman in an aisle who was pushing a very heavy trolley very fast, directly at me and my toddler. She had a baby in a car seat on the trolley, and this was impeding her view. I said (loudly) “Excuse me, please” just as she made to plough into us, and she proceeded to have a go. As in, “Can’t you see that I can’t see?” I was like Shock. I reminded her that it is her responsibility to make sure she doesn’t crash into other people, and if she can’t see she needs to move her head until she can. She wasn’t thrilled.

Trolley driver sounds like an absolute prick. Everyone's busy and just trying to get stuff done. I usually just smile and say After you! In an exaggerated way which winds them up even more. If my kids were out in danger though I would go for the throat!
