To think I will never wear jeans again?

OK, this is a badly disguised advice thread, but there's an element of desperation here so I hope you'll forgive me.

I have not been able to find a pair of jeans that fit me for almost ten years. That is no exaggeration. I've been to lots of specialised shops and feel like I have tried all the usual suspects. Today was another disaster as I tried on almost 30 pairs at Debenhams - all, according to the sales assistant, super stretchy and perfect for my shape - only to again walk out with none.

My problem: I have a hollow back, a high waist, but also a permanent I-am-four-months-pregnant belly. The often-praised Levi bold curve, for example, did not work for me because the button digs into my poor belly fat like it wants carve a path to my ovaries. And that is what usually happens: jeans gape at the back or slide halfway down my bum when I sit down, but are still super tight and uncomfortable in the front because of my extra chub there.

I'm so tired of having to wear dresses every day, and I do have very nice and long legs that would look good in jeans. Grin I am hoping for the perfect idea, or maybe some partners in misfortune.

What size are you? Have you checked plus-size shops?

Maybe leggigs are the answer?

Or jeggings?

I am a size 12, so fairly normal, just unfortunately shaped. :)

Poco jeans are great, have a look online for them.

Have you tried NYDJ? I've found them a godsend. John Lewis stock them. (Warning - they are somewhat on the pricey side.) Other than that, I've found jeggings from M&S are good at fitting where you want them to. Okay, sometimes they're a little too fitting where you don't want them to, but they're a good price, and with a long top, it's all good in the hood!

Do you have a good alterations place near you? They can work wonders!

M&S curve were brilliant! But only in bigger sizes.

The plus size shops here (US) typically start at size 12, so you may want to check them out. They tend to be more generous in their sizing.

Looking at Poco jeans, they look great but I'm not sure about shopping online since I'm so often disappointed!

I'm not sure if I have ever tried NYDJ, will have a look for them in town.

I'll look for jeggings specifically too - I've tried a few in the past and didn't find a match, but I may give them another shot.

NYDJ pricey but such a good fit I had a pair that lasted years I was sorry to see them go. I have a huge bum tummy but small waist.

A US 12 is a UK 14 though, right?

Next Hypercurve! Honestly the best things ever. I am small of waist, large of hips and large of belly too. The ultra high waist ones are great.

I have a pair of Salsa jeans (Portuguese brand) and they fit so well. I have similarly hollow back and high waist.

A US 12 is a UK 16, so OP is a US 8. I sympathise, OP, I’m exactly the same shape and no jeans do it for me either.

Exercise your glutes and lower back. It helps strengthen your tummy muscles and will help pull that belly in. I know that’s not what you were asking, but if it helps? You can google exercises

Go to John Lewis and try on NYDJ, and if they fit and you know the style, you can often find them cheaply on eBay. Or cry in gratitude and pay the full price!

Asda wonderfit. They actually do stretch round your belly and don't dig in. Try them.

@Pharlapwasthebest - I had this figure even when I was in my late teens and still did ballet 5 times a week! The belly won't go Grin

While it will add to the cost of jeans, find the most comfortable fit you can, and have them adjusted by an alterations place.

Well fitting, good looking jeans are essential in a wardrobe. So easy to dress up and down.

Worth a try though, you specifically target your glutes, Ballet is great but wouldn’t do that, even though it’s very good.
I noticed a big difference, and do if I stop doing them for a while, the difference is noticeable

Not Your Daughters Jeans. Expensive so try and buy in John Lewis then when you've got your size sorted out haunt EBay for bargains. The only jeans I wear, and I have a similar figure to you by the sound of it. You look at them and think no way, then put them on and they are perfect.

I generally hate jeans but my daughter accidentally bought my size (also a 12) instead of hers from Boohoo and I love them. Enough stretch without going baggy. They were £9 and the best jeans I own.

Have you tried Nexts denim leggings? they are high waisted and very stretchy and cheap. I have the figure of an athlete, a shot-putter and they look nice on me.

Another vote for Next hypercurve. Your body shape sounds like mine and I despaired for years. These are perfect for me. Worth a look as not too £ either imo.
