AIBU?

DH having a go at me for dressing DD in babygros

DD is 8 months old. Some days I take her out in babygros (nice ones and they're clean) especially days if I think it's a bit cooler as she always pulls her socks off and I think all in one suits are cosier for her.

I sent him a picture of us in the park today and she is in an all in one suit. He said to me "why is she in her pyjamas? Were you really struggling today?" It's really irritated me. I've told him all the reasons I've said here but he says it's the same as me leaving the house in my pyjamas. He's implying I can't dress her properly. AIBU?

Yanbu, he's being ridiculous.

My DS basically lived in babygrows until he could walk. If it's warm enough, and clean, and she's comfortable who cares - she has her whole life to wear stiff jeans and scratchy jumpers.

What does he dress her in when he takes her out?

He is BU. Baby grows are perfect for non walkers. Soft, warm, easy access.

YANBU
My 12 month old is still in sleepsuits. He has bad ezcema and it's the only thing to help him to stop itching. His nursery even adviced the same. Don't feel bad OP. You do what you want to do! She's happy.. Thats the main thing here!

Just tell him you don't see them as pyjamas but as casual clothing similar to leggings and a t-shirt and so do all your friends.

Is he always this stupid?

YANBU. As a PP said, she has her whole life to wear uncomfortable clothes. Babies always look so comfy in babygros!

Yes, what does he put on her when he takes her somewhere?

Wow OK love a baby in a babygro how lovely it's not a fashion parade. As you said socks are nightmare you don't get long of this phase plenty of time for outfits.

She's eight months! What's she's supposed to be wearing? A three-piece suit and stilettos? A ballgown?A waterfall cardigan?

Does he always dress her in dresses, my ds does this then dil changes her back again. It's really funny the excuses she comes up with to change her back Grin Usually a nappy change is needed

My 2yo still wears footless all-in-ones that are pretty much babygros.

Both my sons wore babygros almost exclusively until they were 1. They’re the perfect clothing option for a baby.

Also at 8 months who cares if she’s wearing pjs outside! We’d all do it if we could get away with it Grin

Absolutely! Babygrows are perfect for... babies!

So much comfier for her and easier for you!

It's more the way he worded it to suggest you were struggling that irked me! Is he like that often? He is being weird. You should show him this thread.

I've read him these replies and he's adamant saying "she wore pyjamas I don't care but she wore pyjamas to the park!"

Why does a baby need proper clothes? Babygros look much more comfy - I’d wear one if it was socially acceptable Grin

I used to regularly go to the shop in my PJs

YANBU he is being an idiot. And I'm saying this as someone who loved dressing both babies in tiny coordinated outfits. I had a tweed suit for my son as a newborn etc etc.... but baby grows are absolutely fine! They arent just pyjamas at all. I would never look at a baby and think someone was struggling just because they'd chosen to put their child in a baby grow... what nonesense!
My husband used to dress the babies in baby grows rather than the little outfits I bought because he preferred them... it never even crossed my mind to take issue with that.

I love babygros and sleepsuits! DS lived in them until he started walking. So much easier than faffy little outfits. Your husband is bonkers!

Mine all wear mainly babygros until 1ish. I didn’t know people thought they were pyjamas 😳

I used to take mine out in babygros all the time until they could walk and needed shoes on. Yanbu. He is.

YANBU. You can dress your baby how you like. But don't you find all the poppers fiddly? I hated trying to change nappies in baby grows. DC1 was in them in the day till about 7 weeks, DC2 only 3 weeks. Couldn't wait to get her into tops and trousers for much easier changes.

Babies look at their best in babygros. Plenty of times for her to wear actual clothes and getvjudged for wearing pyjamas in public. Do what you're comfortable with!
