AIBU?

to ask for a handhold

I'm 3 hours from home in a hotel on a work trip and I have a urine infection, I feel sick, hot, cold and am peeing blood. I'm waiting for a call from 111 but if they want me to go and see someone I'm not sure I'm up to driving. My DH has to look after my disabled daughter tomorrow as all of our support network are on holiday, so I'm stuck here until I can manage a 3 hour drive.

I've taken a sachet of cystitis medicine at 9 and then another at 12 as it got so bad. Any chance they'll start to make me feel better soon? Help!

Sorry op but if you're peeing blood then cystitis medicine won't help. You need to see someone. Sorry you're so ill, I've been there so know your pain Flowers

Can you take a cab to the docs? Or get a work colleague to drive you?

Where in the country are you? Maybe someone might be around who can help?
So sorry you are in so much pain - I was frequently hospitalised die to UTI/kidney infections when I was younger.

Btw the longer you leave it, the more chance of you having to be admitted to hospital for IV antibs so I really wouldn't leave it til morning if I were you.

I'm somewhere near Bristol but out in the countryside. I feel so awful.

Do you think they'll just give me antibiotics and send me away? Don't know what to do with all my stuff. :(

Please call nhs 24/ 111- I have had sepsis twice ( Urinary Sepsis due to kidney infections) and both times my urine was the colour of merlot wine. Your dh and dd need you too much to risk leaving this any later! Your dh will have to manage for you to get to the doctor/ hospital!

Thank you. I have called them and am waiting for a call back to find out what to do. I guess it sounds like I'm going to have to go somewhere.

So sorry you're feeling so rotten, OP. Just here offering another handhold until you hear back. Is a taxi an option?

Waiting for 111 to call you back can’t be any fun. Hope you’re not waiting too long OP.

Oh that sounds awful, you poor love. I hope you get seen soon.

Is there a colleague nearby for moral support?

Call 111. I was lucky and had a 24 gp surergy attaches to my a&e but if it's that bad they'll give you antibiotics. They treat it more quickly and aggressively these days.

Big hugs for you, it's absolutely the worst.

Yes. A&E I feel your pain. Have you taken painkillers? Hot water bottle loads of water. It's an infection so keep warm.

You must know where you are? Down here "near Bristol in the countryside" could be anywhere. Where are you near?

karenbokaren · 17/09/2019 02:54

Drinking loads of water and just sitting in the bath peeing helps me.

You definitely need a good dose of antibiotics. I unfortunately suffer the same on a frequent basis. Cystitis sachets will fo nothing. Take paracetamol if you're peeing blood avoid ibuprofen as it can make the bleeding worse in some people. If you have a hot water bottle keep it on your tummy. The sooner you hear from a doctor the better. Obviously it depends on the infection but I always personally find ciprofloxacin works best and by far the fastest. There are always the paid for online doctors if you dont have any luck like click doctor ( I think its called) I've used them once of a UTI.they just send a prescription to your nearest pharmacy. Hope you feel better soon x
