When you start to decide what people can and cannot (or even should and should not) read, then you are on a dangerous path.

You or I may not like the Mail or Express, but that's tough shit in a free country. In some ways they are a useful mirror to the rest of the press as well, who ALL have their own biased viewpoints as it shows different sides to every story.

I read all the papers online except 'the scum'. I read the Daily Star, Daily Mail, the Express, my local paper, the Guardian, the Metro, and Telegraph articles that don't hide behind the paywall. I watch the BBC news, Sky news, Al Jazeera, CNN, and Euronews.

I do this for balance. I'm aware that all media sources have specific biases, and often these days it seems the important 'international' news is buried under fluff opinion pieces and celebrity gossip.

IMO, stick to just one source, and you often don't get the full picture.

I'd recommend you add the ft to the list. It's non-partisan and excellent on foreign news. It is behind a paywall, but I believe there's nothing wrong in being asked to pay for decent journalism.

We're all biased, whether we like it or not (and we're all fed a diet of what the press deems suitable for us according to each of their news values). Being aware of that and trying to understand and engage with other opinions and sources is the only thing we can do about it.

I think you're right. We need to ensure the proletariat only get the state approved homogenous news, there's nothing to be gained by anyone being fed the wrong viewpoint. That's the route to Thoughtcrime.

While we're at it, we'll get the Ministry Of Truth to put in place a system where we amend history to ensure it aligns with the current news. It's the only way we can be sure that we're controlling the future.
