AIBU?

To re-wash the clothes because I didn't take them out of the washing machine straight away?

Once again, I didn't hear the washing machine cycle finish and the clothes must have been lying there for between 1/2 hour to 1 hour.

I must start setting a timer or buy a decent washing machine with a persistent alarm!

I am now re-washing the clothes before putting them in the dryer. Sick of the creases and I never iron.

There is no need to do this. None at all.

What a waste of water and electricity.

Surely this is a wind-up? I often leave washing for several hours before taking it out of the machine.

And you shouldn't be tumble-drying everything either.

The dryer should get rid of the creases anyway tbh, regardless of how long they've been sat in the washer.

I think rewashing if they've gone stale is unavoidable, but what you've done seems unnecessary.

I’ve occasionally rewashed clothes if they’ve been in there overnight, and smell a bit funny in the morning.

I wouldn’t rewash after just an hour or two.

What do you think will happen to the clothes on the half an hour or so that they're in the washing machine?

Just hang them out to dry.

Confused

I often stick a wash on then go to bed for the night Blush It always smells fresh after being hung outside.

Wasteful on so many levels

If my OH has left the clothes in the machine over night I might rewash as they start to smell damp. Half an hour is rediculous.

What a waste of resources. Have you put them on a second full wash cycle or just a quick rinse?
If you were going to tumble dry them anyway that would get rid of any creases.

I have had some terrible creases in my clothing and thought it might be because they were in the washer too long? I am sure I read somewhere we should get them out straight away and into the dryer ASAP to avoid this.

I am drying them today because in lovely Scotland it's pissing down as it has been most of the "summer" Sad

I could use a lower spin but then they would take more tumble-drying and that would also be expensive.

I only do 2 loads a week - occasionally three.

EH... Do your clothes become a crumpled mess if left in the machine and not emptied ASAP?

I only rewash if accidently left overnight and might be smelly or if dirty.

Don't you have anywhere to dry clothes? Washing line?

I only re-wash if I've left them in there 24+ hours and they smell stale.

Really? My washing often sits waiting for a few hours. And I rarely iron either. If it's important to you, set a timer on your phone :)

The weird thing is, I'd like a washing line, but DH wants the dryer. He's as bad as I am in his own way Grin

Complete waste of water and electricity. Bad for your purse and the environment. As is using a tumble dryer (seems really odd to use a dryer anyway when we're having such warm weather).

My electricity is cheaper overnight or in the very early morning so the washing always sits in the washing machine for a few hours before I get it out and it's always fine.

If I've left stuff in overnight I might do a fast rinse cycle - but never felt the need to wash them all over again.

If you get terrible creases it may be because you're drying too much at a time.

You can't dry a full load in one go.

I also live in Scotland (Argyll) and it rains all the time. I use an indoor airer and occasionally tumble dry some things.

If it's important to you, set a timer on your phone smile

My timer goes off again in three minutes. I will do this from now on. I am a slow learner....durr!

Reading your updates OP, you are more likely to get creases if you leave them in the dryer for too long.
Not that I let that bother me either Blush We all have our funny little ways Flowers

I might put them on an extra rinse and spin if they've been there over two hours (I don't iron either) and started to dry with the creases in, but not in the scenario you have.

And not if I were going to tumble dry.

If your clothes come out ridiculously wrinkly you might be overfilling the washing machine

Wish I'd checked in here first. Machine has just finished it's 2nd full cycle for the same clothes Blush

Timing the dryer on my phone now!!!

Cross posted so take back the comment about lovely weather as your in rainy Scotland.

Don't you have a clothes horse or something else to hang washing on?

Whaaaat! I often put a load on in the morning & it sits in the washer untill I get home from work, prob 8hrs or so. It would never occur to me to rewash. That is so wasteful. Ain't nobody got time for that!
