Crispy on the top and a perfect chewy texture on the bottom.

175g butter
175g light brown sugar
175g golden syrup
- Merlot these all and stir
Add 350g of oats, 100g dedicated coconut and 75g sultanas

Put in a 30 x 20 cm tray and bake for 40mins at 150 degrees. Cut into 12 pieces when cooled. Die happy.

A very big thank you from me!

Snazzygoldfish Sun 18-Aug-19 13:54:43

Thanks. I'll give that a go later

SirJamesTalbotAndHisSpeculum Sun 18-Aug-19 13:55:18

Love the idea of dedicated coconut, OP.

sackrifice Sun 18-Aug-19 13:55:20

How much Merlot?

Knittedfairies Sun 18-Aug-19 13:55:28

I think the Merlot probably adds to the taste.

LightDrizzle Sun 18-Aug-19 13:55:52

I'll omit the skanky sultanas but thank you!

AnneLovesGilbert Sun 18-Aug-19 13:56:15

Thank you! I’ll ditch the coconut, nuts work instead?

How do you weigh the syrup?

PeopleMover Sun 18-Aug-19 13:56:49

I thought merlot was a typo for melt? confused

IsobelRae23 Sun 18-Aug-19 13:56:57

Thanks you!

EssentialHummus Sun 18-Aug-19 13:58:17

Ooh! Thanks op.

Freefrops Sun 18-Aug-19 13:58:19

I’d rather use Pinot Noir. Do I need to adjust the quantities?

sackrifice Sun 18-Aug-19 13:59:52

How do you weigh the syrup?

At a guess, scales?

Thequaffle Sun 18-Aug-19 14:01:46

Merlot goes in the side!!!

JudgeRindersMinder Sun 18-Aug-19 14:02:08

For weighing syrup, put a Little flour in your scale pan and shake it about so the surface is coated, then tip out the excess, then the syrup shouldn’t stick

Thequaffle Sun 18-Aug-19 14:02:11

ON the the sugar coma I’m slipping into from the unbelievable flapjack!

Freefrops Sun 18-Aug-19 14:03:17

In the side of what? The pan?

JudgeRindersMinder Sun 18-Aug-19 14:03:30

Thanks for the recipe OP-I like sultanas But May sub them for chocolate chips 😋

Thequaffle Sun 18-Aug-19 14:03:51

@PeopleMover it was a typo for melt smile

Cheeserton Sun 18-Aug-19 14:03:56

I do like a bit of dedicated coconut. So much nicer than that other coconut that never sees things through properly.

Freefrops Sun 18-Aug-19 14:05:15

But what is the coconut dedicated to? The merlot?

OkMaybeNot Sun 18-Aug-19 14:05:17

Chuck in some pumpkin seeds and that's basically the recipe I use. Bloody yum.

MrsJakeLovell Sun 18-Aug-19 14:05:55

Put the saucepan on the scales and weigh all the ingredients straight in to the pan to weigh the syrup.

Coating a spoon in oil helps the syrup slide off cleanly if you spoon it not pour.

And because it's flapjacks the measurements don't have to be absolutely spot on.

Thequaffle Sun 18-Aug-19 14:06:06

@JudgeRindersMinder oooh chocolate chips would be good, how about something like dried cranberries or little pieces of honeycomb?
