Aibu to not line a public loo seat with tissue before using it?

So, after 15 years of marriage I’ve just discovered that DH puts tissues on the loo seat before using it. Now, if it’s a bit grim, I hover. However I have never done the lining thing.
His argument is he can’t hover to do a poo. And he’s worried about other people’s ‘sweaty arses’.
So who is being unreasonable? Am I minging? I’ve never caught any diseases from sweaty bum germs to the best of my knowledge.

A lot of people line loos with tissue paper but the official line is there’s no need as the material that loo seats are made of doesn’t really let bacteria grow so probably no need. I still do just because it makes me feel better about the loo seat

I have often done this, especially if it's one of those public toilets where there isn't actually a seat, just cold metal.

I never understood the lining thing. Surely your hand ends up running the risk of touching the toilet seat to lift it? I'd rather my bum touched it than my hand.

I never understand this as during the day you touch all sorts unknowingly. As long as you practice good handwashing after the loo and at other times during the day then all good, surely?
No one's arse has ever gone green and dropped off from sitting on a loo seat ( has it??)
If there's a drop of wee, I just wipe it off.

I’m sure I’ve seen public toilets that have or oak toilet seat shaped tissue for just this scenario!
But no I just sit and wee (wouldn’t do the other unless truly desperate). Im still alive and infection free!
He should be more worried about the stall door handle!

I’ve never even done this while I was out of the home, I just shower regularly. My mum did this and she was obsessed with germs (wouldn’t hold a stair rail, door handle etc) I believe it added to my anxiety as a child.

The doorhandle to the loo probably harvests far more bacteria than the toilet seat. Especially when you consider that the backs of legs/bums are covered by clothing the majority of the time anyway...

I just don't get the toilet seat thing, hovering either. I do nothing during the day with the back of my legs, I just don't see how getting germs there can make me ill in any way. Carry anti bac gel and wash hands after plus gel on your way out if your overly worried.

I have never used a public toilet to poo.
I'd never sit on a public toilet tissue covered or not.
I hover, trying not to breath in the awful public toilet smell.

I always have hand anti bac gel in my handbag so use it on some tissue and wipe down. Some public loos are gross so this works for me. Could never get my head around the ‘hoovering’ thing which is apparently not good for your bladder. I lived abroad in a developing country and everyone hovered, seemed a bit mad to me!

I’ve never lined the loo seat in any loo. I don’t imagine a tiny bit of tissue is going to offer great germ protection. The only bit that touches the loo seat is my bum and the back of thighs and I don’t really see how any germs on that area are likely to cause problems compared to faffing bout touching loo paper and probably the seat with my hands; lining the seat means twice as long in the loo and seems more likely to lead to touching germs than just quickly sitting on the loo.

I'm completely phobic about using public toilets and will only do so if I'm absolutely desperate. My legs are too short for me to hover 🤣. If the seat was noticeably damp I'd wipe it with loo roll first. Any sign of a skid mark and I can't use the loo anyway 🤷🏼‍♀️
