Confession time just for fun (need some light relief after being up all night with baby!)

What’s the most minor thing that your other half does that unreasonably winds you up?

For me, it’s that my husband squeezes the tube of tooth paste from the middle rather than the bottom, leaving the tube all twisted so you can’t get anything out. It is such a minor thing but my god it makes me rage and I am totally disproportionately unreasonable about it!

Anyone else have anything similar?

I do a lot of my uni work sitting on my bed with my laptop. If he goes for a shit (bathroom opposite bedroom) and leaves the bathroom door open afterwards, reader I cannot contain my rage (That's a lie just go and shut it but inwardly I am livid, it's so gross)

Butters toast directly on the worktop, not using a board or plate, then doesn't clean up

"I went to go"

This horribly clunky figure of speech that he uses all the time. Any normal person would say, "I saw Blinded by the Light at the cinema last week" or "I went to B&Q to buy paint" but no, he says "I went to go and see Blinded by the Light", or "I went to go to B&Q for paint".

Not only is it just wrong on every grammatical level but it makes me think that there's more to the story, that he tried to go to the cinema or to B&Q but something thwarted his plans.

He's a lovely, intelligent bloke other than this. It makes me want to scream every time he says it.

Whatever cupboard I need to get into in the kitchen, he’ll be standing in front of it just buggering about on his phone.
He takes the bread out of the bread bin and doesn’t put it back in there, but instead just placed it in front of the bread bin on the counter top. Drives me bloody mad.

Omg this is exactly the same thing that really annoys me!! Haha ROLL IT FROM THE BOTTOM is all I ever seem to say to him 😂😂

Overly stressed and draws out the first syllable of his DC's names when he wants them to do something. His DM does it too so I'm blaming her!

Walks around the house brushing his teeth.

His bathroom is downstairs so when he brushes his teeth he will wander round the hall, kitchen, living room, scroosh scrooshing his teeth and all I can smell is the horrible minty smell (really dislike mint)

I think I'm almost there with getting him to stay in the bathroom

Eating noisily. I just can't bear it. Last night I got so unreasonably pissed off with DH eating cereal I took myself to bed! I didn't tell him, its not something that will change
(I knew I was being unreasonable btw - being pg seems to have heightened my sensitivity/intolerance!)

Leaves his teaspoon and drips of his cup of tea on the worktop! Gives me the rage!!

Bites his nails!! Drives me round the bloody bend as I can not only see him but HEAR him chomping away! I have vowed to save my toe nails for him so that he can eat them too if he likes nails so much!

Shoes! Comes in, takes shoes off, leaves one in the middle of the living room floor and one in the kitchen doorway! Argh!

Mind you, doesn’t matter where we put shoes now as the baby LOVES carrying them around - generally puts them on the stairs for us to fall over... :)

Oh and Ive mentioned this on MN before and I nearly have him trained

He used to make 'hedgehog's' out of toe nail cuttings in a piece of BluTac. Now it's only the occasional cutting left on the bedside. Even Ds tells him off for it

Ruth2009 yes, why do they do that?! It's as if they've never heard of a plate. DH mutters about 'saving on washing up' but in reality it makes more as instead of bunging the plate in the dishwasher, I have to clean the worktop or bread board as he's slopped butter or whatever all over it.
I hate DH hanging washing as he rarely uses pegs. He folds his items over the line and expresses surprise when some end up in the flower bed mud if there's a bit of wind. I just don't understand why as we have a basket full of pegs and it's no hassle to use them!

Asks me if I want “a” tea.

I can’t say anything in case it annoys him and I don’t get my tea. So I have to grit my teeth and say “yes, lovely thanks”. 😬

In my mind I’m screaming It’s TEA! DO YOU WANT TEA
Not A tea 😡
Grr.

Leaves all cupboard doors open after getting something out! Makes horrible noises when he is eating - I have to leave the room! Made me get rid of my cleaner and we agreed to clean our own bathrooms - guess who can't be bothered??

ToohotandsticKy Where is he from? My MIL says this similar phrases. I was told it was a Wirral/Liverpool thing?

If he does the washing up he only does the easy stuff, never the pans or baking trays. He stacks it up on the drying rack like a game of Jenga (never dries it). When even he can't fit anymore on the toppling mountain he just leaves the job. Yes, just leaves the sink full of water and what didn't get washed. So I have to put my hand in manky cold washing up water to pull the plug. Empty the sink of unwashed but wet stuff. Carefully attempt to dismantle the mountain and dry it all then put it away. And it never occurs to him to wipe the worktops or sweep the floor. But hey, he did the washing up 🏆

He orders takeaways in an Australian accent. Not in a piss-take way, more the end of each sentence goes up in an Aussie lilt. It's ridiculous because he has no idea why, or how to stop, and it's the only time he does it. It drives me mad.

Also, he nags me to drink hot drinks before they've cooled enough to be drunk "don't forget your tea". It's in my fucking hand, you fucking clam.

hughwhatascorcher · 14/08/2019 10:06

If he makes any sort of drink with a mixer (eg gin and tonic) he then stirs it with a spoon. I hate this.

He doesn't cough properly. He does this sort of weird top of the throat cheek blowing out cough thing. It's beyond irritating. Just fucking cough like a normal person!

And don't start me on how he loads the dishwasher.

Report
Stationeryqueen · 14/08/2019 10:09

It's the throat clearing. When he is really stressed it starts as a tic, a little low cough. I counted 27 times whilst eating curry one evening. When I've mentioned it he doesn't realise he's doing it, in fairness he has a diagnosis of ASD.

The lining things up, making things symmetrical and other rituals really don't bother me.....but my god the throat clearing drives me up the wall!!

Tidies up after me, not in a helpful way. Example the other day, had a few things still not quite dry on line so left ironing board set up to finish off later. Went to iron last few bits, board, iron, everything put away. Why? He said he thought I had finished with them, if I had I would have put the feckin things away, I'm as tidy as he is, if he left something out, I would assume he was still using it not that I needed to tidy up his "mess" argghh!

Glitterfisher · 14/08/2019 10:11

Doesn't put the bin liner in properly so when you put something in it it falls down. He knows it annoys me so I think he now does it on purpose. Also puts the toilet roll round the wrong way.
