To feel uncomfortable telling people I'm pregnant because....
(182 Posts)It feels like announcing to the entire world that we've had sex?
I'm being utterly ridiculous I know but I don't want to tell my parents because of this, obviously they probably know I'm not a virgin but still
How old are you? I'd understand if you're 16 but not if you're a grown woman. As an adult sex is a healthy and normal activity that everyone will already know you're doing. I think maybe you need to think about why sex seems 'naughty' to you and something to be embarrassed about?
Really not something that crosses my mind when someone tells me they're pregnant.
I'm 22 so quite young. I haven't been with BF very long only about 3 months so also worried about the judgement about that but we've both decided having the baby is the right thing for us
Well your parents had sex as they had you! Just tell them.
Unless you’re 13 or a nun this really isn’t an issue.
wow
I felt the same as you I was just 21 when I was pregnant. I'm older now and it's honestly not the first thing that comes to mind when people tell me they're pregnant
Strangely I felt a little like this when telling my dad. He is really protective of me and it just felt a little strange for me.
I soon realised it was only me thinking this and he was over the moon.
I felt the same as you and I was 31 and married!! 😂
I'd be more embarrassed about the three months thing tbh
I might have felt more the way that you do under those circumstances and at that age. I'm sure they have already guessed, though. Congratulations on your baby!
You’re planning a baby with someone you’ve been with for 3 months? That seems unwise
It's a normal reaction I felt the same and I was married and 28. Strange isn't it!
I was the same with my in laws. Silly I know. It felt like I was saying "yes, I've been whoring with your son" 😂😂😂
Tell them that the stalk will deliver it
You’re sure about this, only having been together for 3 months?
As others have said, the 3 months thing would be more of an issue for me 😳
I know what you mean although I only felt funny about telling my mum and dad, and I wasn't particularly close to either of them so not sure why I felt that way
I felt just the same telling my parents both times, I giggled like a school girl out of sheer embarrasement when we broke the news.
To the PP who mentioned it no it wasn't planned. I was on the pill but had been ill which must have messed with it
I was newly married and did feel a little weird about telling my dad at first, but he was over the moon and my ridiculous worries were forgotten!
Tbh I think if you are old enough to consent to sex, you should be mature enough to publically "own" the decision (obv you dont normally need to advertise you've done the deed to other people but yes pregnancy is a bit of a giveaway, children even more so). Have you thought about why you feel this way? Do you feel that sex is somehow wrong?
I was mortified telling my parents and I was 33 and married for years at that stage.
I know what you mean, I was 24 with my first DC and after we announced to family I said to my DH "oh god now my grandma knows I've had sex"
Ha, I don't feel embarrassed telling people but I do feel a bit weird when people ask if we were trying... Somehow I don't want them to dwell on the mechanics.
My husband's best friend likes to remind us we're just telling people about all the unprotected sex we've been having. He is 12 years old.
