I'm plucking mad!!!!

He tells me he'll put a path in from the patio to the garden gate as I only have wonky stepping stones. He plans it, tells me the materials to get, starts digging - then when I go out to get the slabs, sand etc., he phones me to say the job's too big and isn't carrying on.

I'm left with a 5 foot long, 3ft wide grave. If I dig a bit more, he'll fit in

weebleswobble Fri 03-Aug-07 20:04:05

He came inside, sat down, and watched the racing .

oooh Annoying.

But who's idea was it? The drving instigator?

and for a fee I'll come round and finish it off!

Kewcumber Fri 03-Aug-07 20:04:49

pmsl - you were a bit slow you needed to have been there when he finished diggin to give him a good push. Tis hell dragging ddead bodies around the place, though good exercise.

weebleswobble Fri 03-Aug-07 20:05:53

It was his idea! I was worried because he's generally a diy disaster zone, but he insisted. If only I'd whacked him with the shovel before he started....

I've rang the professionals and they're coming on the weekend to give me a quote. Any willing diggers/path layers welcome. Fees and refreshments provided with a

...I haven't finished ranting yet...

He tells me later on that he knows he fucked-up in the garden earlier but he didn't think that was any reason for me to have the I was painting the dcs bedroom!!!!

Kew I'm nominating you for quote of the week: "Tis hell dragging ddead bodies around the place, though good exercise. "

Pan Fri 03-Aug-07 20:15:18

I suspect this one of those conversations that the bloke thinks has finished at some stage, but he doesn't know it will be a regular feature of exchanges for about oooh..2 years, though in a different form.

He's a bit like defence.

Kewcumber Fri 03-Aug-07 20:16:55

its true though - bloody hard work (at least thats what I've been told )

weebleswobble Fri 03-Aug-07 20:17:49

2 years? I'm no lightweight

On the dragging him into the grave, I'm going to need a little help. He's 6' 3" and about 20 stone. About 10 of us should be able to manage

Sorry WW but I'm PMSL at this thread.

In answer to the thread title - no YANBU - not that I'd dare say otherwise when you have a shovel nearby and are not afraid to use it.

Leati Fri 03-Aug-07 20:23:37

Yeah my yard is torn up too. Granted that it was my brother and I paid him to do my yard, that did the tearing up. Then one day he stopped and has yet to finish it(its been months.) Finally, I reminded him the other day(I paid you and now my yard is tore up). He reasurred me he would do it and then promptly left.

Pan Fri 03-Aug-07 20:24:11

no thread is complete without pedant alert...

isn't 'I have rung' the correct past tense to use here???

<< not that I wish to cause further upset or anything..>>

weebleswobble Fri 03-Aug-07 20:25:19

Pan, I don't suppose you are 5 x 3 per chance?

Pan Fri 03-Aug-07 20:26:10

I may be wrong. Just a diverting thought at this difficult time.....

weebleswobble Fri 03-Aug-07 20:27:35

On the up-side of course, if we have some rain I could chuck in a couple of fish and hey presto! A pond!

WaynettaSlob Fri 03-Aug-07 20:28:25

Pan (creeps in looking over shoulder and whispers.....) you're right. I rang or I've rung.....
I'll get me coat.

weebleswobble Fri 03-Aug-07 20:29:59

Leati, I feel your pain

Waynetta - 5 x 3?

kookaburra Fri 03-Aug-07 20:47:08

kookaburra Fri 03-Aug-07 20:47:19

I mean YANBU

weebleswobble Fri 03-Aug-07 20:50:22

I am starting to see the attraction of a grave in the garden now I have blurred my vision with a hefty slug of raspberry vodka and tonic.

He bought me a kebab for dinner to save me cooking after I have been painting half the day - seems surprised that I'm not rushing up for that early night
