Haemorrhoids

Hey guys so I was wondering if anyone had any advice for me or had maybe been in the same situation? 😩 so I’ve had an external hemorrhoid for nearly a year? I’ve tried germaloid on it and it does ease the pain and shrink it but it never fully goes away, only shrinks. It’s always there and although it’s small it’s still annoying and does flare up sometimes. It’s also making me not want to sleep with my boyfriend (new relationship) can anyone help me, do they ever fully go away? Or how can I get it to go away? Been to the doctors twice and they just keep prescribing my cream which doesn’t work

@Lilybleu I’m really sorry to break it to you, but nope, they never go. I’ve had mine for over a decade since the birth of my first child. They shrink for a while then they blow up again. Nothing will get rid of them, that I’ve found so far. Anusol hc worked the best for mine, but sadly they’ve never gone. I find the itching is the worst thing.... I know tmi.... sorry....

@Oomph, have you asked gp for some lidocaine ointment? Helps with the pain a little. And a shallow hot bath to pop your bottom in can be soothing. I had a thrombosed one a few years ago, worst pain ever. I cried with every step. Awful. for you too.

I’m in the same situation after giving birth 2 years ago. The responses so far are worrying! It’s horrible isn’t it

Yep they never go away but do shrink.

The best cream are the ones containing anaesthetic.

Honestly your boyfriend probably won’t be looking at your bum hole to notice or care. Bun holes aren’t attractive anyway.

Thank you kind mumsnetters. My piles were also caused by childbirth and insane pushing. It’s really annoying as they flared up out of the blue,while on holidays and enjoying an unusually healthy diet of salads and fruit, and lots of activity, swimming and surfing. Basically doing all the stuff they tell you to do to prevent them in the first place. At any rate I shall visit the pharmacy and ask for the stuff suggested above. 🙏

Try a suppository for the inside and cream for the outside. Always works for me when having a flare up. Also an ice pack wrapped in a flannel and placed between your bum cheeks works a treat . You can get haemorrhoids banded but ask your GP re this as funding, severity are factors if it’s available on NHS.

What cream is the doctor giving you? They usually fob you off with Anusol HC which isn’t up to it if it’s really bad.

Have you tried Scheriproct or Protocsedy? You should use both ointment and suppositories together and it will help it shrink massively.

I suffer terribly since the birth of my massive children.

Witch Hazel on a cotton pad gives some relief too.

This is definitely tmi but for the itching and general pain, an ice cube (wrapped) placed on the pile and left on till it melts every night for a couple of weeks actually sorted my long standing painful itchy haemorrhoids. I did this method year ago and still they haven't hurt or itched since.

They don't go I am afraid. Hydrocortisone like cream should work. If they are terribly painful or large then you could consider getting them surgically removed.

I think this is what I have got. It’s a rubbery feeling bump under the skin? Is that what it’s supposed to feel like?

I had mine surgically removed 18 months ago. A new lot has just sprouted!!! It is horrendous. But I do not want to go through surgery again.

Crapping through a bumhole with stitches is not fun!!!!! Uniroid ointment available on prescription helps a lot

Of course they can go away, most do in a few days! I had one two years ago which went away completely and another a fortnight ago which has shrunk back to nothing.

Mine shrunk and have never come back. I have however been left with what can only be described as a bit of chewing gum stuck right next to my bum hole lol. Hoping to get surgery on that little bad boy though.
