tell me your first dance song at your wedding

So its my wedding next week and I’m still in a dilemma over which song to have for our first dance. The one we have chosen so far is an old song and not a typical ‘first dance’ song. I think only older people will really know it as its not a really well known song (although my mum did say it was one of her dads favourites). Now I’m wondering whether to change it to something more well-known.

So...tell me your first dance song and why you chose it. And did you regret it or have a similar dilemma to me i.e. a not typical song? (first world problem i know - this is light-hearted!)

Basically I want you to help me get all romantic and misty-eyed for my wedding!

Ours was not typical, but very, very special as the words are great.
It’s getting better by Mama Cass.

Have I told you lately - Van Morrison.
The song you have chosen sounds lovely though, particularly as your Grandad loved it too x

‘Wonderful tonight’ by Eric Clapton.

When my husband and I had been together for about 4 months we were given tickets to see Eric Clapton in concert. When he sang Wonderful Tonight my husband leaned over to me and whispered in my ear ‘when we get married, this can be our first dance’. Five years later, we made it happen.

My husband’s best man, who has a beautiful voice, sang it while accompanying himself on the guitar. He changed the lyric ‘long blonde hair’ to ‘long brown hair’ at my husband’s request because I am a brunette.

It was, in every possible way, perfect.
