I’m the opposite, it will come up on the news that someone has died and I often think ‘didn’t they die ages ago’

Alan Rickman. It breaks my heart every time.

It’s the ones who stupidly died as a result of drugs that make me quite sad. Of course illness or accidents are deeply sad but accidental overdoses... I’m thinking of Tom Petty and Carrie Fisher here.

This is a hard thread to contribute to, as surely you’d have to remember that someone was dead in order to say that you usually forget 😄

But your title made me think of Victoria Wood too

Whitney Houston. Was in the car the other day singing and dancing along to I'm every woman, then in the middle of the song I remembered she was dead and I shed a little tear 😩 she's been my icon since I was 4 😢

Name-changed because if my friend is on here it’s SO obvious who I am!

As my user name suggests Luther Vandross is my contribution here.

I was round at my friend’s house years ago and she was telling me how Luther never publicly came out but it was widely known he was gay. I was all Shock but then she casually dropped in the fact that he was also dead! Since that night it’s been a ripple effect of me telling that story and without fail someone saying that they didn’t realise he was dead. Poor old Luther.

Rik Mayall.

I'm not one for mooning over celebs or stars but for some reason i can't get my head around this one.

Bottom gets mentioned a lot in our house as we have 5 early 20 somethings knocking about who love it and quote it all the time. Every.single.time i laugh .... and then about 10 mins later remember that Rik Mayall is dead and feel sad about it :(

I think Victoria Wood died the day before Prince so she was somewhat overshadowed. Very sad about both of them, far too young.

Fekko Tom Petty died of a massive heart attack iirc, drugs not involved

I thought Bill Nighy was dead but my friend said he wasn’t. I think I’m mixing him up with Alan Rickman 😢 oops

For some reason one of the top read stories on the BBC news site today was that Gene Wilder had died and I was all "noooooo"... Before opening the page and realising I'd already mourned this three years ago Sad
