Brown mucus like period or implantation bleeding?

Stevia8 · 24/05/2019 19:16

Ok so i was predicted to start my period monday (my periods are not that regular though n i range from 30-36 day cycles.)
I started with dark brown discharge for 2 days then it stopped wednesday for 24hrs then came back on thursday n im having a brown mucus type discharge. No fresh red blood?
This isnt my usual period. Im using yellow
/light tampons as i dont like the discharge in my knickers n the discharge is sitting on the tampon not soaking them. Im also having a few sticky clots.
i normally flood the green heavy tampons with fresh blood within a few hrs for 4days straight. Any one got any ideas.
Me and OH are trying for a baby.
I have tested and its saying negative at the moment.

I am not a doctor or anything like that at all. Without being alarmist I would urge you to seek medical advice. I think you should ring 101. I am saying this because it is possible that you have something I once had, although of course you may not.

I am sorry and of course I could be completely wrong but it sounds a little bit like the symptoms I had when I had an ectopic pregnancy. I didn't want to read your post and not say anything, even though I'm probably completely wrong. I would encourage you to dial 101 and have a chat with the person to see what they think.

I'm intrigued and a bit worried about what megrichardson posted.
I had an early period that was lighter than normal last month. Also had the same symptoms as you is dizziness, feeling sick in the morning, really bad fatigue, tender breasts. My period is due to tomorrow. I have had light brown discharge the last few days. I am not holding out hope for myself.

Fingers crossed for you Stevia8

Im glad youv let me know @meg. Thankyou
And the thought has crossed my mind also. Iv been having lots of pregnancy symptoms but no positive test. Do you test positive with ectopic? I will keep everyone updated. Im pretty sure its not an STI but will get a routine check if i dont get answers.
I do also have endometriosis so my periods have a tendency to do crazy things

Yes I did test positive when I had my ectopic and also maybe your endo is what's causing everything. I hope all goes well for you x

I had brownish spotting for 2-3 days when my period was due for the first 3 months of my second pregnancy. DS2 starts high school this autumn...

Go to a&e? I presume you are taking the piss?
You have a negative pregnancy test, you are not complaining of any pain, you just have an odd lighter period.
This does NOT mean you have an ectopic pregnancy and you do NOT need to seek urgent medical attention on a friday night!!!!
There are a million reasons why your period could be like this, the majority of which are absolutely nothing to worry about. Yes there will always be someone spinning the yarn about having an ectopic with a negative pt, however they would have had other symptoms as well.
God sometimes these threads drive me battyAngryAngry

I am having pain and sharp twinges but again this can be normal for me with my endometriosis, I wont be of to A and E this evening as I agree I don't feel its an emergency.
if my symptoms continue tomorrow or get worse I will call the 111 and go see an out of hours gp.

An out of hours gp will do absolutely nothing if you have a negative pregnancy test. Periods can change all the time without warning for different reasons - endometriosis being one of them! Its not an emergency if you are well in yourself.

brummiesue the OP didn't say she was going to a&e what the hell is your problem? Some random poster said it. The op posted to see if anyone had similar symptoms.

Sounds like you are just having a strange month of period to me. Or you are having an implantation bleed and have used a HPT that isn't very sensitive. Personally I would never go to the GP or hospital or 111 just because of a few days of spotting. If it continues for a few months or develops into severe pain I would. If you start to get a temperature or feel generally unwell then maybe seek advice.

Completely agree with @brummiesue. By the time an ectopic pregnancy is big enough to rupture, you're pregnant enough to get a positive pregnancy test. If you're too early in your pregnancy to get a positive test, then it's vanishingly unlikely that that pregnancy is imminently going to kill you.
