AIBU?

To think that Deliciously Ella is unbearably smug?

Just that really. I used to be a fan. However recent pregnancy updates are incredibly smug and found her podcast awful - constantly interrupting guests. Am I being mean? Not sure why it annoys me so much!

I’ve always found her incredibly smug and pretty unbearable so I’d say you probably have just seen the light. Thousands would disagree I’m sure.

So I just had to see what you were talking about and just checked out her most recent insta post. Urrrrrrgghhhhhh...well aren’t we a smug, self satisfied pregnant lady. Just wait till you are covered in puke and shit and haven’t slept for a week. Love to see your vinyasa flow then...

A friend of mine has some serious food allergies and messaged her. She replied back with a really lengthy, detailed reply. Friend also has a health condition Ella has and Ella gave her a lot of tips. I was quite impressed she had taken the time when she must get so many messages.

I don't follow her so I don't know know how smug she comes across.....but it's Instagram, is it part of the job to be a bit smug?

What's wrong with it?
She is looking after herself, enjoying her time being pregnant and looks lovely.
Leave her alone you grumpy pants.

Of course you're not being unreasonable. She is possibly the smuggest person on the planet.

She is insufferably smug. Yanbu.

Her diet is awful, it’s laden with sugar! She’s promoting an unhealthy attitude to food which can have serious consequences in young girls.

I’ve met her once or twice. Regardless of her smugness or lack thereof she uses Mumsnet, will probably see this, and I imagine will take your podcast feedback on board.

She’s got a hugely naive attitude to childbirth, although i really hope it doesn’t come back to bite her

I’m sure she’s a nice person though, social media always makes people come across as smug, it’s the very nature of Instagram and social medial in general

Yes I agree @Passthecherrycoke. I am sure she’s a perfectly nice person in real life. However some of the statements she is making about childbirth - she is very influential amongst her followers, and I worry she is really putting forward a particular viewpoint which could be damaging to women who have tricky births. I hope she has a straightforward time (would not wish a tricky time on anyone of course) but I wish she wasn’t using her significant influence in this way.

Her energy balls are dry bland chewy hell. Even she has to dip them in a nut butter

I love her podcast and her recipes.
She's proud of her pregnancy and giving advice to others. Particuarly vegan mothers who may like a bit of guidance in diet and nutrition. That can only be a good thing.
Also another thing to add. She has mentioned in her podcast how she has experienced stress and anxiety. She is human like all of us.
Targeting pregnant women is not kind or helpful. So stop.

She's another example of why nepotism is such a shitty thing.

If she has a naive view of pregnancy and birth she won't be the first and she won't be the last of the glossy mummy bloggers to do it.

I remember when A Model Recommends was first pregnant - she thought she was going to breathe her baby out with hypnobirthing and there were definite signs of First Woman Ever To Be Pregnant. She then went very quiet and admitted she had had a highly medical birth and had known absolutely nothing.

She’s not shy about the fact that she uses mumsnet.

Unkind of you to write this post about her when she’s likely to see it.

I just had a look at her latest post. Can’t see anything wrong with it? She says sometimes she feels great and other times an achy sloth. Hardly smug?

I hope she gets some new followers so something positive comes out of your spitefulness.

I used to follow her but stopped a few weeks ago, she shares a silly amount of her life online and I felt awkward watching it all. Don't think that's healthy for her or those she is seeking to influence. She seems nice, but also blissfully unaware of her privilege and the inadvertent amount of damage she can do to people with all this #blessed type stuff and some of the unevidemced food stuff she pushes.
