Thinking we might not live happily ever after

Been with partner for 2 years. We live separately. He farts a lot, bad breath in the morning and I mean really bad but he will just keep talking, coughing without covering his mouth. He doesn’t wash his hands often at all and uses the loo and thinks washing his hands with water only is acceptable. It repulses me.
He has a daily shower so he himself is not dirty but these other hygiene issues put me off him sometimes. I wonder if we will live happily ever after. AIBU?!

Why don't you talk to him about these things?

CarolsBiggestFan Sun 19-May-19 11:07:56

It’s very doubtful that you’re going to live happily ever after with someone you’ve stated “repulses me”.

So yeah, YANBU, might as well save yourself the time and revulsion and end it now.

Beyond grim.
Unless your name is Princess Fiona ywnbu to ltb...

Not a chance would I stay with him, he's vile!

KitKatGymnast Sun 19-May-19 11:20:20

I think I will have to have a conversation with him.
Sometimes pisses on my toilet seat. It’s so upsetting.

user87382294757 Sun 19-May-19 11:22:04

You need a plan. Tell him to make changes and then if not maybe you need to condor whether you want this long term. It doesn't sound pleasant.

Aprillygirl Sun 19-May-19 11:35:49

Yes have a conversation with him OP, that's what most adults would do. Stick a peg on your nose if it makes it any easier.

Horsemenoftheaclopalypse Sun 19-May-19 11:40:50

I read this aloud and my DP asked if it was a real post or had I made it up 😂

He reckons being repulsed by your partner isn’t an ingredient in the “happy ever after” recipe.

I agree.

ChodeofChodeHall Sun 19-May-19 11:42:16

If he repulses you when you don't even live together, perhaps there's not much chance of a happy future together with him?

KitKatGymnast Sun 19-May-19 11:49:38

Definitely a real post. He doesn’t repulse me but some of these unhygienic things do!
I do wonder sometimes if This is what most men do?!

RedPanda2 Sun 19-May-19 11:51:36

He sounds delightful, I hope he washes his penis before sex but I doubt it from what you've said.
I think you've set the bar way too low on this one

GeorgeTheBleeder Sun 19-May-19 11:51:42

You don’t live together? So he’s just a boyfriend?

Just dump him and move on.

Horsemenoftheaclopalypse Sun 19-May-19 11:52:49

Def not what mine is like.

Although we do both find farts disproportionately funny 😳

Nquartz Sun 19-May-19 11:56:04

Mine farts but is fastidious about hand washing & eating with his mouth shut. He definitely doesn't pee on the toilet seat either envy

MargotLovedTom1 Sun 19-May-19 11:57:39

Is pre-sex penis washing the norm? confused

KitKatGymnast Sun 19-May-19 11:58:39

@RedPanda2. Yes he does. Keeps that part clean smile thank goodness.

KitKatGymnast Sun 19-May-19 11:59:28

MargotLovedTom1 I would say for oral, yes it’s a must!!

JacquesHammer Sun 19-May-19 11:59:52

Oh you have a happily ever after.

It won’t be with him.

cookiechomper Sun 19-May-19 12:01:44

Farting and bad breath in the mornings isn't really his fault, but peeing on the seat and not washing his hands is something he could change. Though if he really repulses you, then he's probably not the one for you. I'd dump him

UnicornBrexit Sun 19-May-19 12:05:49

Everyone farts, even the Queen
I dare say everyone's breath smells like a budgies cage in the morning too

Has anyone died from his water only hand washing? No they haven't.

Just shout "hand" when he's coughing. That's easily curable.

Ditto - shout "seat" when he's in the loo.

"repulse" is a bit strong. Bit of an over reaction really. These are all solvable issues.

AudTheDeepMinded Sun 19-May-19 12:13:16

UnicornBrexit I shout those sort of things at my three DSs, I would not expect to be doing it to a life partner.

pepperpot99 Sun 19-May-19 12:16:41

I would not want him around the children tbh - how disgusting to go for a dump and not thoroughly wash with soap. It repulses me too. Why are some people so downright skanky?

TinselAndKnickers Sun 19-May-19 12:22:45

Fuck that

FinallyHere Sun 19-May-19 12:24:11

* It repulses me.*

The point at which you notice that someone repulses you might be the time to realise that the relationship is really all over.

Best let him know ASAP
