my new travel mug

After many a wet book I found a travel mug that doesn't leak. Its the tefal mug. I thought I would share this joy with you all.

Contigo for me, too. I have the raspberry coloured one, love it. Per the instructions, it doesn't go in the dishwasher. The coating is pristine after 12 months.

Getting it refilled at St Pancras International after a concert in London makes a two-hour+ late night train journey home, bearable. Two hours to myself with a book and hot coffee. grin

Soaking in bicarbonate of soda solution, 1tbsp/500ml removes stains and smells, not just from coffee mugs.

@ZippyBungleandGeorge your husband is right. I have so much milk in my tea that it's usually drinkable Fairly quickly, put it in my contigo and it's really hot!

ZippyBungleandGeorge Thu 16-May-19 22:46:47

@Inkstainedmags DH is adamant the contigo makes drinks hotter. He's not a scientist.

Dexterslockedintheshedagain Thu 16-May-19 22:43:31

Costa coffee one for me. No leaks, keeps my coffee hot for hours.

CocoLoco87 Thu 16-May-19 22:24:09

Another vote for contigo! I heard about them on MN and have had mine for over a year now. Love it brew

I have a double walled bodum that I can leave tea in and still find it drinkable 4 hours later

Springcleanish Thu 16-May-19 22:20:55

My bodum (metal) has been used daily now for over 8 years. I love it. However it’s looking a bit dented, and so I bought a new one the same - it leaked, the replacement leaked and the replacement replacement leaked, so I’m back to my 8 year old one.

Inkstainedmags Thu 16-May-19 22:13:38

The only complaint I've ever had about my contigo is that if I make a drink, put the lid straight on and get in the car for a longish journey, the drink is still too hot to consume when I reach my destination.

@NannyR fill the cup with soapy water, put the lid on and pour the soapy water out through the mouth hole, then rinse and repeat once or twice with clean water. I use mine for everything from herbal tea to baileys and coffee and find this gets rid of the flavour of the previous drink.

@toddlerteaplease haven't tried with my contigo but I discovered by accident that fresh lemon and ginger tea (as in actual lemon, not the teabag variety) scours a stained metal cup so it looks new.

Contigo here too, had it years and bought another to rotate them in the dishwasher. If you buy the silver one it doesn't peel. The coated metal coloured ones look great but after a lot of washes in the dishwasher the coating cracks and peels in patches.
I use them daily and it often ends up on its side and upside down in my bag and has never leaked. Pricey but so worth it!

Sunnysidegold Thu 16-May-19 22:06:27

Love the contigo one too. Although mine has lost a lot of paint since goibg through the dishwasher a lot. Not sure I want to sniff it now...

Wallywobbles Thu 16-May-19 22:04:27

Exactly so @NannyR

NannyR Thu 16-May-19 21:52:00

I agree with wallywobbles, I love how the contigo is totally leakproof and keeps the coffee piping hot, but the lid has a really stale coffee smell to it that affects the taste of any drinks I put in it. I've dismantled the lid, put it through the dishwasher, soaked it in various things but it still persists.
I still use the mug, but end up taking the lid off to drink from it, which sort of defeats the object of it being a travel mug to use on the go.

NCB2019 Thu 16-May-19 21:50:07

Bodum from Amazon. They don't leak and keep drinks hot for hours.

My DH makes me a tea at 6am. At 7am I take the lid off so it can cool enough for me to drink it at 7.15.

I like really hot tea and it stays hot while I'm drinking it even without the lid.

I've also left it until after the school run (with the lid on) so from 6 till 8.45 and it's still been too hot to drink without removing the lid to let it cool first.

It can be put in the dishwasher and is still just as effective. I've had mine a year.

IamnotaStepfordHousewife Thu 16-May-19 21:45:30

Contigo for me too. I have the hot drink and cold drink ones. Expensive but so worth it. Although don't get the coloured ones as the paint flakes off. I have them both in stainless steel now and dishwasher them.

Wallywobbles Thu 16-May-19 21:44:35

Our contigo ones stink. Can't get rid of the ashtray/coffee smell. Can't use them anymore.

S1naidSucks Thu 16-May-19 21:43:01

I got this one from The Range. It is brilliant and I can walk the dogs and pop it open/closed without spilling a drop. Plus it was only a tenner.

Camelback ones here. Fab

Moorcroft Thu 16-May-19 21:24:32

Another contigo user here, they are fabulous.

Agreed. Mine is (was) so fabulous that it has been stolen sad.
I am now taking my coffee to work in my Chilly water bottle - it is not the same.

Spanglybangles Thu 16-May-19 21:19:53

Another contigo user here, they are fabulous. No spills and keeps your coffee hot for hours.

MsMightyTitanAndHerTroubadours Thu 16-May-19 20:32:52

i have been putting my contigos in the dishwasher...had them a couple of years now, and the only issue is one of the seals is a little loose, so you need to make sure that you just ensure it's in properly before you screw the lid on

they are all used about the same so it's not an issue with the seal and dishwasher.

Itstheprinciple Thu 16-May-19 20:29:16

toddlerteaplease fill it with water and a bit of Milton from time to time.

EKGEMS Thu 16-May-19 20:28:40
