I can also recommend contigo, the ones with the locking lid, you can just throw it in a bag. DH has driven of with it on the roof of his car 4 times (I know), so it's quite dented but works

Love my contigo. But how do you stop it getting stained inside?

Report
Ledkr · 16/05/2019 20:26

What? Does this mean I will have a dry bag and no coffee stains down my work clothes?
New concept for me.

Use denture tablets! I cleaned out one that my husband had neglected and it was like new afterwards!

i have been putting my contigos in the dishwasher...had them a couple of years now, and the only issue is one of the seals is a little loose, so you need to make sure that you just ensure it's in properly before you screw the lid on

they are all used about the same so it's not an issue with the seal and dishwasher.

Another contigo user here, they are fabulous. No spills and keeps your coffee hot for hours.

Agreed. Mine is (was) so fabulous that it has been stolen Sad.
I am now taking my coffee to work in my Chilly water bottle - it is not the same.

I got this one from The Range. It is brilliant and I can walk the dogs and pop it open/closed without spilling a drop. Plus it was only a tenner.

Our contigo ones stink. Can't get rid of the ashtray/coffee smell. Can't use them anymore.

Contigo for me too. I have the hot drink and cold drink ones. Expensive but so worth it. Although don't get the coloured ones as the paint flakes off. I have them both in stainless steel now and dishwasher them.

Bodum from Amazon. They don't leak and keep drinks hot for hours.

My DH makes me a tea at 6am. At 7am I take the lid off so it can cool enough for me to drink it at 7.15.

I like really hot tea and it stays hot while I'm drinking it even without the lid.

I've also left it until after the school run (with the lid on) so from 6 till 8.45 and it's still been too hot to drink without removing the lid to let it cool first.

It can be put in the dishwasher and is still just as effective. I've had mine a year.

I agree with wallywobbles, I love how the contigo is totally leakproof and keeps the coffee piping hot, but the lid has a really stale coffee smell to it that affects the taste of any drinks I put in it. I've dismantled the lid, put it through the dishwasher, soaked it in various things but it still persists.
I still use the mug, but end up taking the lid off to drink from it, which sort of defeats the object of it being a travel mug to use on the go.

Love the contigo one too. Although mine has lost a lot of paint since goibg through the dishwasher a lot. Not sure I want to sniff it now...

Contigo here too, had it years and bought another to rotate them in the dishwasher. If you buy the silver one it doesn't peel. The coated metal coloured ones look great but after a lot of washes in the dishwasher the coating cracks and peels in patches.
I use them daily and it often ends up on its side and upside down in my bag and has never leaked. Pricey but so worth it!

The only complaint I've ever had about my contigo is that if I make a drink, put the lid straight on and get in the car for a longish journey, the drink is still too hot to consume when I reach my destination.

@NannyR fill the cup with soapy water, put the lid on and pour the soapy water out through the mouth hole, then rinse and repeat once or twice with clean water. I use mine for everything from herbal tea to baileys and coffee and find this gets rid of the flavour of the previous drink.

@toddlerteaplease haven't tried with my contigo but I discovered by accident that fresh lemon and ginger tea (as in actual lemon, not the teabag variety) scours a stained metal cup so it looks new.

My bodum (metal) has been used daily now for over 8 years. I love it. However it’s looking a bit dented, and so I bought a new one the same - it leaked, the replacement leaked and the replacement replacement leaked, so I’m back to my 8 year old one.

I have a double walled bodum that I can leave tea in and still find it drinkable 4 hours later
