to be hacked off with dh that he let ds take his favourite toy to nursery

which he has, inevitably, left behind. and is inconsolable.

Oh dear.
Ds1 has blankie and ds2 has teddy and the rule is that they don't leave the cot. Its the only way I can be sure of not losing them. Plus, I didn't want them trailing grubby tatty comfort things round when out and about.
A friend works part time 2 days but because her work is a long commute, but near her mums, they stay over. I heard that one time they forgot the special toy and at 2am in desperation she met her mother half way at the motorway services to hand it over!!

for me the issue is that he let him take it at all.

it was a plastic digger by the way, a current favourite, but not a special comfort object particularly.

ds is an obstinate little chap and was probably adamant that he take it - i'd already said no and explained why it wasn't the best idea this century.

in all fairness, the nursery have better things to do than make sure each child has their special toy on leaving. heck, they arent even sure which toys are theirs and which belong to the kids. our nursery has a sign up specifically stating that if you bring special toys, its at your own risk lol!

believe me, i know

try explaining to dd that we cant go get pooh bear at 8pm because school is closed. oops.

id be well hacked off with dh! Surely he knew the rule about leaving it at home! My dd has a cuddly dog and he is not allowed "out". We have managed to lose him now and again and its a terrible tme for both you and child.

It's not fair to blame the nursery I'm afraid. They probably do their best to make sure belongings are not left behind but they have 25 children (or more) to chase up, the DH in op only had 1.

I would be pissed off if my dh did this but maybe now he will realise that you don't make these rules for a fun passtime!
