For my sons first passport!

My parents full birth certificates and marriage certificate and the same for my husbands parents.

It’s bonkers. Has anyone else had to provide all of this?

What if you don’t have everything?

It’s only if both of the child’s parents don’t have passports themselves though isn’t it? That was my experience when I got DDs passport last year. Had to give grandparents DOBs but that was all (and we didn’t even know the full name and DOB of one of them which was fine)

I think you can buy copies online.

We didn't send copies of grandparents certificates when I applied for my DC passports. Either this is new or you don't have enough information in your own name to send in.

I’ve got a passport and provided the number, I applied online and these are the documents they have specifically requested.

You can only get copies of uk certificates online unfortunately.

My husband doesn’t have a British passport.

That's only for certain circumstances isn't it, do you definitely fall into that category?

All I had to do for mine was provide parent passport details

Either this is new or you don't have enough information in your own name to send in.

I certainly don’t remember it happening for my daughters passport.
I’m uk born and bred and provided all my information and passport number.

My husband has indefinite leave to remain.

This is what they have specifically asked me to send. I’ve completed the application and this is the list they asked for.

I applied for my dds passport this year and didn’t have to send all of this. Just her birth certificate if I remember correctly.

Don't think everyone has to provide grandparents details, I thought that was only if the parents were born abroad so that the British nationality of the child was based on their grandparents not on their parents. It's fairly straightforward to get copies of birth certificates and marriage certificates.

"My husband doesn't have a British passport".....that's why you have had to provide so much. I only had to provide mine and husband's details, not Grandparents.

Yup, applying for my sons first passport. We’re both British and gave our passport numbers. We only have to send his birth certificate.

We dont have the information about DPs parents so we cant send that.

Have all the details for my parents.

However we both have passports and are both British etc so we probably wouldn't need to send extra info

Have you spoken to them, maybe they've made a mistake

Were you born after 1983?
We had to do the same as I was born after 83 and my husband didn't have a British passport.

Defo didn't need this for DS which we did in October. We had to do the paper application though?

If you have a British passport and gave the number then you don't need grandparent details.

Did you put yourself as the person applying for the passport or did you put your dh?

My husband doesn’t have a British passport.

Surely you realised this is why you had to provide additional information? Confused

My dh didn't have a British passport when dc1 was born but we only had to provide our marriage certificate. That was a long time ago though

A friend is going through this with their second- so I think new in last two years...

But only 1 person makes the application on behalf of the child. British citizenship would be passed on through the mother if she put herself as the person applying for the passport

I have provided the details of grandparents DOB and marriage details, but never been asked for certificates. I last applied for one in 2017 for my youngest. I have a British passport and my DH has an EU passport.
