Workmen from window company were due to arrive 9am to fix a problem with front window which still under their warranty,10am comes and I rang and was told problem with their van and they'd be about an hour.Ive since been told that it will now be after 2pm Hmm I hate lateness and being messed around.Aibu? Should I just suck it up?

Well what else can you do? And if their van has broken down what else can they do?

They should have volunteered the info to you ie they were going to be late. However, most tradespeople behave like this.....does not make it right of course!

What could they do? They couldn't predict a van breaking and wouldn't know how long it would be to fix until people get there to look at it.
Sucky but just one of those things

I’m extremely sceptical about these excuses, they just occur too often where tradesmen are concerned. Yes, I’d be very fed up.

Just found out off them that the van wasn't broken, they were going to come at 9am "then the boss got involved" dunno what that means but hey ho.

"Getting involved" used to mean going to the pub for one and getting sucked into drinking the afternoon/evening away in my day...

What could they do? Well for starters, they could have called as soon as they knew the van was broken. OP had to call them.

Saying that, it's best not to expect too much from tradesmen nowadays.

You won't make them tea when they've hinted it was down to the boss, not them?

If they didn't apologise they are bloody rude anyway.

That woud piss me off. We were supposed to be having some engineers coming to reconnect our solar panels on Tuesday morning, so waited in all day and they didn't show up at all, no phone call or anything. We also had the men who fitted our new boiler a few weeks show up at 8.30 in the morning a day early, I told them they would have to come back on the agreed day and they got quite shirty about it.
