www.johnlewis.com/pols-potten-money-box-playful-bunny-gold/p3541360

Hmm, well looking at piggy bank for new baby in the family (JLewis is my go to for lovely baby gifts), and found this when I searched for money box. An upside down "playful" rabbit with bound looking arms designed so that pennies are posted into the slot between it's legs. It is astoundingly crass and revolting.

How to take an innocent trinket and turn it unmentionable, what were the buyers thinking? Hey look we can do the degrade women and sexualise children message all at the same time, all in the guise of "playful", cos if you don't laugh you are just too boring anyway. It's like they forgot about target markets all together.

This is a money box, but not one I would ever give as a gift and if I ever received one of these I wouldn't be inviting that gift giver back!

I am feeling a little shock at my usual failsafe JLewis right now!

I don't think IABU to think yuck, AIBU?

Sooooo you're sexualising a rabbit & an over priced, cheap looking ugly pot one at that confused

have fun with that 😂😂😂

Blueuggboots Tue 23-Apr-19 16:45:03

@supwithatthen please get a grip!!!

Pols Potten is a great brand with sometimes some unusual design. They focus on making design stuff for adults who appreciate their unusual designs - though I agree this one is a bit too particular.

pepperpot99 Tue 23-Apr-19 16:40:14

It looks like a Jeff Koons design. Yeuch.

I think this satsmore about your psychological profile than the makers.

AdobeWanKenobi Tue 23-Apr-19 16:38:30

Hilarious. Thanks for the amusement.

Canshopwillshop Tue 23-Apr-19 16:35:39

Blimey, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect when I clicked on your link. You are sooo over-thinking this OP 😅

Xenia Tue 23-Apr-19 16:31:27

I thought this would be a thread about rabbis in the Jewish religion.....

It doesn't look too bad but it is better for hte baby if you give it £62 in a bank account for when it's older than just this money box given money is going out of fashion and the baby will just try to eat it.

Chippychipsforme Tue 23-Apr-19 16:31:23

OP, here's a grip, please take it.

Jux Tue 23-Apr-19 16:22:09

IT'S 62 QUID shock !!!!!!!

Bloomburger Tue 23-Apr-19 16:21:36

Just showed it to DDs pet rabbit and he said he feels violated 🙄

iklboo Tue 23-Apr-19 16:19:37

You have a longer reach than Mr Tickle here.

DilliDingDillyDong Tue 23-Apr-19 16:15:11

Good lord, OP. Get a grip.

Poloshot Tue 23-Apr-19 16:13:23

Don't buy it then

CommeDesPoissons Tue 23-Apr-19 16:12:18

I'm seeing kangaroo here, not bunny. It's meant to be a yoga bunny, no? Inclusion of a plug is a nice touch, though, for extra, er, versatility. grin

thenightsky Tue 23-Apr-19 16:04:27

I expect Vulva-Bunny will be turning up on the shelves of TK Maxx within the year.

CoolCatKat Tue 23-Apr-19 16:00:58

Yeah its a bit wierd and pervy for John Lewis.

LadyWithLapdog Tue 23-Apr-19 15:56:23

I’ll be sure to think of this at my next yoga class.

Sux2buthen Tue 23-Apr-19 15:54:02

Now what carrot 🥕 gold do you suppose that is?

CoraPirbright Tue 23-Apr-19 15:53:54

Cant see really much wrong with this (other than the price tag) - its just a bunny standing on its head.

A couple of years ago, however, Paperchase did a money box in the form of a purple glittery Jesus. That did make me raise my eyebrows somewhat.

KissingInTheRain Tue 23-Apr-19 15:46:00

Posters go on about Daily Mail fodder and then we get this sort of bonkers shit complaint.

A candidate for Mumsnet Madness surely.

SecretWitch Tue 23-Apr-19 15:38:58

His bunny arms look folded not bound. Pols Potten is a Dutch brand. I would buy him for £5.

janeybumtum Tue 23-Apr-19 15:38:51

I think it's tat and a bit naff...

GrandTheftWalrus Tue 23-Apr-19 15:38:33

The only thing crass and revolting about it is the £62 price tag!

QueenKubauOfKish Tue 23-Apr-19 15:38:32

It's gross and not of the tasteful standards I associate with St John of Lewis, but I do think it's a "comedy" bum crack and not a porn posing bunny. But it is grim. It's something about the gold that makes it seem so "adult" instead of just silly.
