Terraced house.
SW London.
Will take about 20 mins.

If not, what time is ok?

After 10am, some people get very few days off and might be trying to sleep.

MatchsticksForMyEyesReturns Mon 22-Apr-19 08:55:47

I'd treat it like a Sunday. Not before 10 IMO.

7am - YABU,

9am - YANBU

Happy mowing smile

ThanosSavedMe Mon 22-Apr-19 08:56:35

Very unreasonable. Wait til after10

bigchris Mon 22-Apr-19 08:57:22

Wait until 10am! It's only an hour!

Helplessfeeling Mon 22-Apr-19 08:57:30

I am going to do mine in a minute. After 9 is fine IMO. I have never heard the rule about not before 10 on Sundays either. From the sound of it nor has anyone else in my neighbourhood. Maybe it is regional?

Invisibleiink Mon 22-Apr-19 08:57:46

Sundays and bank hols I would wait until 11.30. Though I know others may differ! Will be interesting to see other replies!

dancingthroughthedark Mon 22-Apr-19 08:57:49

I did mine yesterday it was so quiet everywhere so waited until 11. Heard a couple of others start up around the same time.

missmouse101 Mon 22-Apr-19 08:58:59

Ffs! After 10! People still asleep at 9. It's a bank holiday.

Purplejay Mon 22-Apr-19 08:59:06

Give it another hour.

LadyWithLapdog Mon 22-Apr-19 09:00:08

Wait a bit longer. I don’t think there is a rule but it’s still early. Even if adults are awake maybe they’re having a cup of coffee in peace.

DaffoDeffo Mon 22-Apr-19 09:01:05

I'd wait till 10am though tbh the neighbours have had their toddlers out in the garden screaming since 730am so I would probably welcome the lawn mowing noise at 9am hmm

BernardsarenotalwaysSaints Mon 22-Apr-19 09:01:15

I’d be more inclined to wait until 10am but it depends how well you get on with your neighbours.

toomuchfaster Mon 22-Apr-19 09:01:20

My washing machine went on at 7.46 so is spinning now, about 15mins noise. I think 9am is fine.

I never understand why people can't just wait until a normal time to cut their lawns! Definitely after 10 at the earliest!

Invisibleiink Mon 22-Apr-19 09:03:59

More generally, I quite like early evening as a lawn mowing time - it's the sort of thing you can do any time if it doesn't take too long, and by early evening people have gone in from their gardens (and won't be having a lie-in, generally speaking!).

RJnomore1 Mon 22-Apr-19 09:06:18

I’d say it’s fine and I was out last night(proper out in pubs!) but if it’s quiet waiting an hour would be nice.

No one could complain st this time though.

Then again I can’t sleep late, I just can’t stay asleep past getting up time.

Scabetty Mon 22-Apr-19 09:07:53

9 am is fine - mow to your heart’s content.

WindsweptEgret Mon 22-Apr-19 09:08:06

9 is fine. You don't want to do it in the heat of the day, and in the evening people may be sitting in their gardens, so some people will not be happy either way.

Helplessfeeling Mon 22-Apr-19 09:08:40

I never understand why people can't just wait until a normal time to cut their lawns!

Because for me personally I have other things I want to do today. I always want a shower after I have mowed the lawn, so I like to do it first thing, have a shower, then get on with those other things. If I wait until later then I find it restricts what I do beforehand as I am waiting to get it out of the way. I also think 9am is a 'normal' time, even on bank holidays. Just like some people believe that playing loud music well into the night in their garden is normal, but personally I would never do it.

FrancisCrawford Mon 22-Apr-19 09:09:54

Absolutely fine

(I don’t have a lawn, so no vested interest)

The binmen collected garden waste before 8am, so no issue with cutting grass after 9

KingscoteStaff Mon 22-Apr-19 09:09:55

Ok, will wait til 10. Going out at 10.15, so sorry if you’re my neighbours and I wake you.

Although you were singing round your fire cauldron thingy until half midnight keeping me awake last night...

WindsweptEgret Mon 22-Apr-19 09:12:33

I never understand why people can't just wait until a normal time to cut their lawns! 8 would be a normal time for me, but I would wait until 9 on the weekend. I was cooking a curry at 7 though.

WindsweptEgret Mon 22-Apr-19 09:13:48

If my neighbours were making excessive noise after 10pm the night before then I would absolutely be mowing at 8am though!
