I agree with your friends and family and have been saying so for months. It will be the last option left (other than revoking the whole thing which I also think is more and more likely, the longer it all drags on) and will eventually be perceived as the only way to give legitimacy to whatever is decided.
I think the question will be some kind of DEAL vs REMAIN. It would be great if it were a deal that more people were happy with - I almost feel the negotiations should be handed over to hard Brexiteers to give them a shot at doing it "better", if they think they can and then putting that up against remain.
"NO DEAL" is a nonsense fantasy land beloved by zealots, disaster capitalists and people that don't understand the first thing about economics - that doesn't even deserve a place on the form.
I personally don't think there's anything undemocratic about ratifying the final deal with a binding vote.

No. I think they'll take a long extension (12-18 months), still come to no agreement on a deal and end up quietly revoking article 50. It will all prove to be the biggest, most destructive waste of public money ever dreamed of.

Lengthy Brexit delay "highly probable"
European leaders are arriving about five minutes apart at the EU Council building in Brussels, and many are taking questions from reporters.

Dalia Grybauskaitė, the President of Lithuania, said she expects a Brexit delay to be granted at the meeting -- but predicted that Theresa May will have to compromise on the length of the postponement.

"I am confident that we will be supportive to [the] request of the Prime Minister. But it’s highly probable that it will be a longer extension than Theresa May wrote in her letter," she said.
"I am very flexible because it is not much sense to debate a concrete month. What we would like to see (is) to help accommodate (the) UK to have any kind of decision finally," Grybauskaitė added.

When May arrived earlier, she dodged questions about what she would do if forced to accept a lengthy extension, but in the past she has insisted: "As prime minister, I am not prepared to delay Brexit any further than the 30th of June."

Yes it is. But what would be the point in ever voting again. Once you over turn a majority decision where will it ever stop? And I’m not just talking about brexit am talking about any significant decisions the public get to vote on.

The elite are doing their utmost to stop us leaving the EU. I think the leaving date will be delayed for a year, project fear will continue to run rampant until the lying MPs officially refuse to make a decision and then we have a second referendum between two remain options.

The whole "referendum is sacred" is a crock. Things change. Things change all the time. It was David Cameron that (a) promised this would be a once-in-a-lifetime vote and (b) that he would implement the result. Really, the second he fucked off, we should have cancelled the whole thing. Why should the entire UK suffer for a promise not kept ?

He's gone. A further poll of people is entirely democratic. It always was. Especially as it could be a substantially different choice.

Anyway, it was a once in a lifetime vote anyway. My DM passed away shortly after voting.

I think it's looking more likely as we go on but I don't really see what the point would be. People keep pointing out that referendums are only a poll in effect and the results don't have to be acted upon by the government. Our MPs are already proving that they couldn't find their arses with both hands and a map. Not really sure what another referendum would accomplish.
