Anyone experienced difficulty with naming a school on ehcp? Council is supportive but school states will challenge if named. D already thinks going to the school and scared will miss being placed altogether. School only reason says can’t support needs of D financially though EHCP is for min hours. D suppose to start y7 in Sept!

Financially? But funding comes with the ECHP, doesn't it? Is the problem the slightness of the specified provision?

Depends on LA- but in many LAs the EHCP funding doesn't even touch the cost. Schools have to contribute the first £6000, then say we get £6000 flat rate for an EHCP/high needs funding but as an example full time support for a child with medical needs including lunchtime will be about £25,000 with all on costs. Living wage LA etc

There’s only a limited funding for schools for teaching assistants, they need these for children with EHCP. They can only take x amount per year

Was already put off one school as they said they were having cuts and won’t have any TA’s. I get that budgets are strapped but what does that then mean for D? No school place as he is too expensive to support Sad
