What to do about Nursery photo?
(35 Posts)My DD is in her final months of Nursery, in the Preschool room.
In the next few weeks they will be doing preschool “graduation” photos with a cap and gown. Plus they do a class photo of them all.
Every child is issued with one copy of their graduation photo and one copy of the class photo, paid for by the Nursery. We don’t have the option of buying any more like we did with previous Nursery photos as the photos aren’t done by a professional company (this is all I’ve been told not told by who they’re taken).
I am separated from my DDs Dad. He sees her 1 night a week and EOW but has nothing to do with Nursery. I pay the bill, I do all events, I do parents evening. He’s not even had any input in what schools I applied for as when I asked him he said it was my job as DD lives with me. He never picks her up from Nursery and is unlikely to pick her up from school. He however has bought a copy of every photo she’s ever had done at Nursery (we’ve always sorted out payments between us).
I have asked Nursery for a 2nd copy of at least the graduation picture but they’ve said no as it wouldn’t be fair to all those other parents who want a 2nd copy for grandparents or whatever – fair enough I understand. I asked if they would allow me to buy a 2nd copy for her dad so it’s fair they said that the people who do the graduation photos don’t usually sell the photos (assuming it’s some sort of agreement with Nursery that they do the photos for free in exchange for advertising and/or free childcare).
WWYD? I feel awful for her dad, but part of me selfishly thinks “well I pay for it and do everything for it so why shouldn’t I get the last ever “professional” photo?”
I would stop over thinking it to be honest. There is one photo. There are two of you. You get it. He can take a photo of it on his phone if he wants. End of the matter.
Just take the photo to Snappy Snaps and have them make a copy. No need for any drama.
When you have the photo take it to a proper printers/reprographics. They should be able to do a great copy for him or you on durable paper.
If you take the photo in Boots they can scan it in and copy it. You can't have it larger but the same size
Just scan it and print another!
Photocopy them.
find someone with a good home scanner printer and buy a pack of photo paper and copy it. won't be good as the real thing but good enough.
Take it too boots and copy it, they have a kind of photo photocopier you do yourself.
Well firstly I think it's fair you get to keep the photo but to avoid an argument I think I'd bring it into a photo/photographers shop and ask them to do a copy and get him to pay.
Just scan it. This is a non-problem.
I don't know anyone with a scanner or printer, but will look into taking it into a shop for them to do.
Missing the point, but why do they put the children in a cap and gown?
Just copy it yourself. I know someone will be along to talk about copyright but it's only a picture for a dad so not a big deal (especially as they don't sell them).
Scan it in, save on a memory stick and go to timpsons or the like to get it printed.
Max spielmann will also scan and reprint a photo for you, you may need written permission from a professional photographer though (I know you used to have to when Kodak were in Tesco).
ScreamingValenta it’s non stop graduations now. From pre school, from juniors to seniors within primary school, from primary school. A money making opportunity.
There's a max spielmann in my local tesco so will ask there next time I'm in as if they need written permission I can speak to the Nursery about that.
What’s the problem, just take it and get a copy done
ScreamingValenta it's in everything now!
A money making opportunity
Ah! Say no more. I'd never heard of graduation pictures for anything but university degrees and American high school leavers, but I can see that where there's a photo-opportunity, there's a cash potential.
You don't need permission from nursery. Jesus, why are you making such an issue out of a very simple to resolve problem?
Its been mentioned but many photo shops copy pictures boots certainly do although this is a snappy snaps link www.snappysnaps.co.uk/photo-services/photo-scanning.html
You wont know the difference between the orginal and the copied print and probably cheaper than paying the photographer for a second print.
Or if quality doesn't matter you could scan it in and print it off on paper
Or you could go to the liberary and ask for a colour photgraph
They wont need written permission its your child in the pucture
Also just dont tell them some one else yook the picture they wont ask
What’s the problem? Make a copy
Take a photo on your phone, then go to one of those print machines and bingo!
