Yodel texted earlier to give me a delivery window, every minute of which I have spent sitting at my desk which is at a window beside my front door.

Apparently during this time they were unable to deliver and left a card.

Obviously no card has been left, and they didn't try and deliver. The online customer chat person tells me that the van is showing online as having been at my address.

AIBU to think that unless Yodel has Antman style shrinking technology which has enabled a microscopically small van to pull up to my letterbox and deliver an invisibly small delivery card, the bastarding twatting shitbag of a delivery driver hasn't been here at all?

Thought they had to take a picture of the locations they can’t deliver at?
Ask for the picture maybe.

Doesn’t sound like you’re getting anything today though which is a bugger.

I hate yodel! I've watched him do the gentlest tap on my door and turn straight back around walking away without even waiting for a millisecond. I've also caught one putting a card through without even knocking which was the weirdest thing, I've no idea why

They did the same thing to me yesterday. I sat in all day waiting for my package to arrive only for it not to turn up. The only info I was given by Yodel was that it was out for delivery and it should arrive before 9pm. When I checked the online tracking it said they had tried to deliver it at 11.30 am and I'd refused delivery! I'd done no such thing! My partner spoke to someone via online chat and they said they would organise a re-delivery for today. I kept checking the online tracking but no updates were made apart from saying "thanks for booking a new delivery date." When I finally got through to them today no re-delivery had even been booked by them and the item had been sent back to eBuyer (who have been equally as useless at getting this sorted.)

I wonder if there's a way of finding out which retailers use Yodel to deliver, as I wouldn't buy from them again. I have a feeling the delivery could be from Hush.

It's the endless time it takes to speak to anyone, the refusal to apologise or let customers speak to a manager. That sounds like a nightmare, Hedgehog.

I wonder whether I'll ever get the parcel. The website won't let me submit a new delivery date.

Interesting about the photo, tanstaafl, at least I could see which of my neighbours wasn't in for two chuffing hours this afternoon.

I had a card through the letterbox. Completely blank. Nothing on it at all to indicate where my parcel was. I wasn't even expecting one!! I went online and it said the parcel had been delivered to my neighbour (but didn't say which one). I asked all of my neighbours and they haven't taken a parcel for me. I don't know who has sent me something or where it is now!!

I'm going to refuse to use companies that use Yodel from now on as this is the second time this has happened.

AO delivered washing machine, at least their email said so.
We rang them. You weren’t in so we left them next door. The driver had taken and uploaded a picture, AO described the house.
Nope that’s not us (but we knew where it was)
They came back next day , picked up machine , drove the extra 200 yards , delivered it AND refunded the £20 next day delivery.

They wouldn't let me speak to a manager either and all the responses seemed like pre-approved copy and pasted answers too..

Just as I've been typing this I got an email from eBuyer saying they expect to receive the package back on the 12th April and they will organise to re-send it then. I'm so angry It's completely unacceptable.

Needless to say I wont be buying from eBuyer or anyone who ships with Yodel ever again.

But how can we tell in advance who uses Yodel?

Hhm, just double checked my Hush confirmation, and they mention Royal Mail, so it won't be them.

Wonder where I can see a photo. There doesn't seem to be anything obvious on the website.

+1 for boycotting Yodel. It's the only way this will improve, if at all.

sanity check your bins. I had the exact same issue last year and found the parcel in my wheelie bin.

Report
sanityisamyth · 05/04/2019 17:55

@fairgame84 I don't have a bin. I live in the middle of a row of terraced houses. One of my neighbours I don't trust but they have taken parcels before and they've handed them over fine. Just seems very strange to happen twice.

There's a shop over the road from my house who's renowned for taking in parcels for nearby houses and many of the regular delivery drivers are aware of this but it hasn't gone there either.

It gets better.... I can't even cancel my order or get a refund until eBuyer gets it back on the 12th. It's ridiculous, if this was Royal Mail I could simply walk to the sorting office and pick it up. I'm definitely asking for a refund now. What if I wait until the 12th just for Yodel to pull the same trick?

DPD are just as bad although our Yodel man is OK, last address they were crap and threw things over the 6ft gate, in the rain, at the weekend so they got thoroughly soaked as it was an office and closed at weekends. I won't buy from anyone that uses DPD.

Yodel described a box left beside a front door that opens right onto the street as 'left in a safe place'

If I know a company uses yodel I won't order from them.

I won't buy from companies that I know use either Yodel or Hermes for this very reason.

Sadly, sometimes they don't say until it's too late and you get the card of doom and no parcel.

Aozora13 · 05/04/2019 18:09

Oh I hate them! Recent favourites have included: chucking the parcel over our railings down to the basement, leaving packages under our car and getting all huffy that they’d definitely delivered something, except it was to an address that didn’t exist. When pushed they did a GPS tracker thing and the closest the van got was 3 streets away. Getting the rage just thinking about it! I find Twitter helpful for getting a quick response.

According to the online chat person their geo tracker shows the driver was at my house. I call bullshit.
