AIBU?

AIBU to detest this new-fangled propensity for made up words?

I have just recently come to terms with Brexit.
I understand that language evolves.
But it's bloody pissing me off!!!!

Just now I've gotten a notification on my phone that Donald Tusk is going to advise the EU to allow the 'flextension'.
I actually want to scream!!!!!!!

AIBU? Do I need to chill out? FFS

Please tell me that I'm not alone?

Strictly does this all the time - fecking 'armography', 'danceology' and apparently 'physicality' has now made it to the dictionary

Do they have some half-witted twit employed on a full-time basis to come up with contractions to fucking coherent sentences and invent new words for themselves?????????????????

Note to self: Calm down.

Ha! Language is always changing and evolving.
I understand Shakespeare pissed his elders with new fangled words and sayings he used.

I have bad news for you about how literally all words were invented...

Derailing slightly - but I really like the word 'newfangled'. And it isn't Grin.

Whatad · 05/04/2019 11:13

It's an extension to Article 50. Not a fucking flextension. FFS.

This tendency towards langorphosis, I blame the Apocalexit, it’s a head-mangling-event (henceforth known as a hamglingent).

It looks less offensive if I type FFS. Otherwise I'd be f'n and blinding all over the shop.
Ok, I'll chill.

I think my irritation is more the fact that newspapers are doing it. You can understand conversational informal chat using such shite, but a newspaper? I'll eat me hat when the Times start at it.

I actually quite like the Apocalexit - seems more appropriate than the most used word of the past 3 years.

Sounds like you are blamestorming here.

And as far as Brexit is concerned, it seemed like an epiphinot at the time but really it is just a dullema
