Text message sent to my mobile as follows:

'Attention!!! Your Mobile Number was selected as a winner of £2,000,000.00 on EURO-MEGA DRAW with Draw No.EU-(number quoted) Email: (link to what looks like an email address) for claims/info'

I haven't entered any lottery or draw btw. Am I right in thinking this is probably a scam? I am a bit loath to click on the link to check the address out....has anyone else received messages like this?

Absolutely basic rule number one of scam awareness: if it sounds too good to be true, it is.

Sub-clause: you can never have won a lottery you have not entered.

Don't listen to this crowd of miseries, OP.

Go on, open it. What's the worst that could happen?

Thanks all. Well that is I have no intention of clicking.

I haven't entered any lottery or draw
So how could you possibly have won then?

Sparklesocks Thu 04-Apr-19 23:17:50

The old rule is always true: if it sounds too good to be true, it most likely is!

Livingtothefull Thu 04-Apr-19 23:20:31

Yes I thought that it was very far fetched that I could win a draw I hadn't entered, I will have to give up my dream of millions then. I thought it might be useful to anyone reading this in case the scam came their way too.

Vodafone have a system where you text scammers numbers to "VSPAM" to get them blocked. I expect other operators have something similar.

That’s an obvious scam, even if you had entered any lottery or draws.
