In this BBC article it says "half of those surveyed said they had already bought and eaten at least one chocolate Easter egg or cake this year."

AIBU to be shocked at people just randomly buying and scoffing easter eggs before easter! It never crossed my mind. dashes off to the shops

Are they including a Creme egg or a couple of mini eggs in that, maybe?

flameycakes Thu 04-Apr-19 14:20:30

I'd imagine they'd be sick of them by Easter, fancying a bar of fruit and nut now grrrr xxx

doIreallyneedto Thu 04-Apr-19 14:21:27

All I can say is, you're easy shocked :-)

SoyDora Thu 04-Apr-19 14:22:26

The best thing about being an adult is that you can eat whatever you want, when you want!

Crocky Thu 04-Apr-19 14:24:19

It’s just chocolate 🤷‍♀️

WinterHeatWave Thu 04-Apr-19 14:24:50

I bought them in December (mini eggs and creme eggs were in Smith's!), flew them 1/3 of the way round the world, and stashed them til last week until a neighbour had a horrendous week, so I took her a creme egg. Kids saw the stash, and insisted we made nests.
Easter eggs are typically the only UK made chocolate I get out here. Egyptian Cadburys isnt the same!

My 19 yr old DS and I shared a twirl one last night; it was delicious.
Don't tell his younger sister 😉

An Easter egg and a bottle of wine is a marvellous dinner

ClinkyMonkey Thu 04-Apr-19 14:25:10

I was given a shed load of mini eggs (cunningly disguised as a box of cereal) for Mothers Day and they're nearly all gone. I may not have been solely responsible for all the scoffing though.

PinkHeart5914 Thu 04-Apr-19 14:25:20

You are easily shocked! I could tell yo7 things to make your toes curl ;)

Surely it’s more weird to not of eaten one by now? I’ve eaten a few, chocolate just tastes better in egg shape

soulrunner Thu 04-Apr-19 14:25:28

Just eaten a bag of mini caramel eggs. The Easter bunny will just have to restock

BusySittingDown Thu 04-Apr-19 14:25:45

It's just chocolate. It doesn't make it sacred just because it's egg shaped! hmm

InMyBloodstainedSundaysBest Thu 04-Apr-19 14:26:12

I've probably eaten about 6 of the small £1 ones... They've been in the shops for weeks shrugs

EmeraldShamrock Thu 04-Apr-19 14:26:32

I am not shocked. I have ate 3, small eggs not mini eggs.

Northernlass99 Thu 04-Apr-19 14:26:32

"It's just chocolate" - yeah I guess I never thought of it that way!! Expensive way to eat chocolate though?

BusySittingDown Thu 04-Apr-19 14:26:36

Besides, they've been in the shops since Christmas.

Whathappenedtothelego Thu 04-Apr-19 14:26:45

They mean Creme eggs and hot cross buns and stuff.
Not big eggs in boxes.

SrSteveOskowski Thu 04-Apr-19 14:26:53

You're easily shocked OP shock

isittheholidaysyet Thu 04-Apr-19 14:27:36

We won a few Easter eggs at a fundraiser the other day. We shared one out around the table and ate it there and then.
Does that count?

The actual eggs bought for Easter are sitting on the side under a strict Lenten embargo. They will not be touched until the first church service of Easter has been completed.

JudgeRulesNutterButter Thu 04-Apr-19 14:28:20

Yanbu. To me it’s like having Christmas presents early. Nowt so queer as folk eh. 🤷‍♀️

NoIDontWatchLoveIsland Thu 04-Apr-19 14:28:28

Yes you are clearly BVU.
Mini eggs are delicious and can must be consumed year round.

MariaNovella Thu 04-Apr-19 14:28:51

I bought lots of Easter chocolate last Friday and we have eaten over the week. I love Easter chocolate and baking!

CosyAsAToasty Thu 04-Apr-19 14:29:11

If you call this shocking......then you have my sympathy.

Sonicknuckles Thu 04-Apr-19 14:29:16

Well I'm letting my kids eat there's now as we won't be in the country over Easter and can't take them with us.
