To buy my Nan a Mother's Day card?

I'm very close to my grandmother and have always bought her a Mother's Day card, even since a child.

DP thinks I'm weird for doing this and asked why I buy her one. He is also close to his Nan but has never bought her a card or gift for Mother's Day.

AIBU for doing this? Do you do this for your GM?

She was a woman who I loved, usually made a card and bought a plant for the garden, something small like a pansy.

Bit harsh to think you're weird. All families have their own ways of doing things and different traditions. It's lovely to do that for your nan.

@bridgetreilly didn't even know there was a grandparents day? My Nan is my only surviving grandparent, the rest are deceased.

Always got my nans a Mother's Day card, my kids do it now for their 3 nans, I think it's lovely ❤️

My DC send their DGM a card, it's a nice thing to do & she really appreciates it.

I always used to send my Nan a card and my DC would send her a Great Grandma card.
My DC now buy a Gran card for my Mum.

Always got my nan's a card and gift from a child (through parents) now I still do it as an adult for my 1 remaining nana.
I don't get cards off my dc for dm or mil though as it all gets a bit expensive! Just get them gifts off me and dh.

We do Mother’s day for nans in my family. Dh has never and finds it a bit weird.

Of course! And a present. I also send my aunty and my dad's wife a card. My mom is no longer with us. I don't really like mothers day, but it's easier than it was.

I'm not saying you shouldn't do it if you want to, which obviously you do. But it really doesn't make sense. She's not your mother.

Maybe we just didn’t celebrate it but I don’t remember Grandparents Day being a thing when I was younger.

If it was that odd a thing to do Gran/Nan Mothering Sunday cards wouldn’t be around in shops.

I didn’t, even though I lived with her more than my parents. I think it was because it was ‘Mother’s Day’ and no one ever said you could get one for Nanny. But I will be honest, after she passed away, it’s one of my biggest regrets that I never did.
