Extremely heavy periods been having at least a six month period doc knows all about it. But recently I cut my self from one of my pads, normally use organic cotton or reusable ones but had run out during the night my left side got completely rubbed raw. CleAned the area and put some suda cream on and that felt better. Except it’s not clearing up still hurts still itches and it’s because it’s constantly wet I’m so heavy. I try to change pads regularly but it’s not enough. I can’t wake up in the night to change pad with out setting and alarm. I do try lay on a towel for half hour with nothing on but it’s re impractical. Any ideas on what to do im so uncomfortable. This morning pad wasn’t to heavy but it was all on the one main soar side.

Go to GP for referral. You know that’s not normal.

I'd go back to the GP and really push for a referral - 6 months and such heavy flow is not normal.

I'm the mean time, can you use tampax, even if you have to wear a pad as well? Thinking the super plus ones. That way, there may be less leaving the body and so less moisture.

I had six months of heavy bleeding, turns out it was a fibroid. Got fobbed off for six months!! Bloody fools!

Oh poor you, get yourself back to the doctors and insist on help.

That sounds horrible, you have my sympathy.

Would you be willing to try a mooncup? They hold more than a pad or tampon, and it would keep the wetness away from your cut.

Can you use tampax or mooncup? I wouldn't be able to leave house without combining on sanitary protection, although I have used massive in continence pads before which worked, but were massive.

I also used reusable pads, but again there is no way i could use them alone, but as a combination method they are great.

Keep using a barrier cream on the sore bits when you have a period and then maybe let it air once your bleeding stops.

Dr should be able to prescribe noristrstone (something like that) so stop your periods dead until you heal.

Good luck with the scan
I had a fibroid-well three actually
My doc told me don’t use tampons as it makes it worse
For some reason having a baby put a stop to the fibroid!
Must be hormones or something had shrunk it?
I use washable sanitary towels now and love it

The reusable bamboo pads are much kinder on the skin and don't cause chafing so I would definitely recommend them.

But I think it's a bit late for that. Go back to the GP and insist that you can't continue like this. I feel for you OP, it sounds awful. It's definitely not normal and you don't need to suffer in silence.

If the GP knows about the soreness, what did they suggest?

If the GP doesn't know, I would go back and tell them about it and the fact it's not healing.

You poor thing. All I can suggest is air to it as much as you can which of course is easier said than done.

I've had horrific periods for years. I've tried all the medications available to make them lighter as well as various contraceptives. Once the doctor agreed there was nothing more that could be done, I was referred to the gynae. After scans etc, they can't find anything wrong. I'm having an endometrial ablation next week which should take care of it.
You really don't have to live with this. Go to the docs and be persistent.

Use a Canestan pessary . If you have thrush it may be delaying the healing x

Report
celebrityskin · 30/03/2019 17:46

Also you could ask your GP to prescribe something to temporarily stop the bleeding

Report
Littleteacup1 · 30/03/2019 19:50

I have tried something to stop the period but didn’t fully work and made it so much worse when I came off

You would probably benefit from at least a 2week break for skin to heal. What did you use? What dose and for how long? Won’t necessarily solve problem long-term, but sounds like some respite very much needed!

Report
Littleteacup1 · 31/03/2019 06:18

noristrstone Can’t remember the dose

Op did the doctor look at the sore? Could it be infected? I'd go and have a warm salt bath. Keep lots of sudocrem on it, and buy some period underwear. They wick the moisture away more than pads.

Report
Littleteacup1 · 31/03/2019 07:05

This morning in the bath I washed the area and scratched it by god does it sting tub of suda cream at work today hopefully that helps also cotton reusable pads today
