AIBU?

DP Taking DC's to in law's on mothers day?

DP asked me if it was okay if he could take DC's to his parents on Saturday so they could stay overnight and come back Sunday evening.

He said he knew it was Mother's Day this weekend and they would all stay if it was a problem.

AIBU unreasonable to say ' that's a shame, I was looking forward to spending the day as a family with yourself and my 2 darling son's?'

Whilst inside, my heart almost left my body at the thought of having a whole day to myself!

I honestly can't wait, I went to M&S today and bought loads of lovely food (currently hidden in the back of the fridge).

How am I going to cope tomorrow morning when they leave? Do I put on a fake cry? I don't know what to do...

Any advice would be extremely helpful!

5 years ago for Christmas I asked for Gone with the Wind and 4 hours alone to watch it. 2 weekends ago with my DC's now in their early '20s I finally got my 4 hours - it was bliss!

Wave them off wishing them well, plan a mothers day meal for another night and have a lovely day Smile

Amazing but don't lie. Tell dh that he has given you the best gift: peace. Otherwise he might change his mind or rush home Sunday. How disappointing would that be!

"I'll miss you so much, I'm SO looking forward to having you all back tomorrow! Don't worry about a present, just having you back will be present enough."

Then as soon as the car is safely off the street get the wine out the fridge and the boxset on. ENJOY!!!

Sounds perfect. Although you will get someone who can't imagine being parted from their little darlings on the most special day of the year along soon though. Fuck that, mother's Day is for peace and quiet.

Wow - what a great DH you have - I imagine grandma will love having the GCs for mothers day and you get peace and quiet - can't think of anything better....

DH did this one year. Everyone was a winner! The Sunday closest to Valentine's Day, I take the kids out for the whole day leaving him home alone. He loves it.
