To think families that have more vehicles than people and no drive are selfish twats!

Yes I'm looking at you Mr and Mrs Silver cars across the road. There are only two of you, you have no drive and yet you have now got 3 cars (they acquired a new one today) and a van (all of which are silver hence the name).

What the fuck do you need 4 vehicles for you can only physically be driving 2 at a time!

We live on a road which like many others across the country has difficulties regarding parking, only a few houses have drives. So why would you think it is reasonable to have 4 vehicles. You are pretty much ensuring that your neighbours have difficulty parking and yes I think you are selfish twats why don't you move to a house with a drive!

Does anyone else have such entitled car collecting neighbours?

Sorry for the rant but they do my head in. Every night moving their cars to be as close to the house as possible. As soon as anyone leaves the space seems to be filled with one of their cars. Angry

Are there definitely only two people living there? I’m a student and all 4 of us have a car each and our neighbours hate us. We do try and squeeze close together though and I often park around the corner near back gates (never used for parking and not blocking anyone’s gate) to be considerate as I know it’s annoying.

Hopefully one of the old cars will be going now they've got the new one. And presumably the van's for work.

We are probably Those Neighbours. We have 4 motorbikes (2 in the garage, 2 on the drive) 2 cars (one on the drive, one on the street) and a motorhome (on the street).

The motorhome stays on the street because the drive slopes and the fridge doesn't work until it's been level for at least 24 hours. We often go away on the spur of the moment, so need the fridge to work from when it's turned on.

We have a car each, but DP doesn't use his because there's no parking where he currently works. He's only got another 9 months there though, so he might well need it to get to his next job. Until then, it's SORNed. My car will always be parked on the street because I can't get out of it if I drive it in forwards (narrow drive and high fence, so can't get the driver's door open far enough to get out) and the clutch makes a burning smell if I reverse it up the steep drive.

At least 2 of the motorbikes need to go, but they all need a bit of work, which DP hasn't got round to because maintaining an elderly motorhome is like painting the fucking Forth Bridge. We'll keep the small bike for commuting and the big one for fun.

We are one of those families, my car, dh car and a work van. I would love to have a drive but currently can't afford one. The road outside your house does not belong to you.

Unless they are blocking your drive, I don't see your problem.

But surely the van is for work?

We have 3 vehicles and only the husband drives. Two for work and a family car

Yes there are just 2 of them.

I appreciate that we don't own the road I just honestly get so frustrated that most of it is taken up by their cars and that no matter what time of night it is, if someone leaves they replace the space with one of their cars. Its almost like they think they own the spaces outside their house.

presumably the van's for work.

I would probably be less fussed if this was true but he goes to work in a suit and always drives one of the cars. I've not seen the van move for a while and have no idea what he uses it for.

I agree and the family who live on a corner with a range rover, sports car, caravan and camper. It's a fexkin nightmare to avoid hitting something as I turn into the road.

My neighbour has an suv and two motor home, all not even parked on his street because he is on the opposite corner with double yellows.

I'm with you OP. That sounds annoying.

Sure, no-one owns the road outside their house but there's limited space and people with lots of vehicles make it really difficult to park.

You'd hate us too Op. 5 adults, 7 cars, 1 van, 1 beach buggy, 1 boat aaaannd 2 motorbikes. Slightly spilling off the drive 🤷🏻‍♀️

You’d hate us! We have 3 cars, and a small van, and my dads camper van is currently sat on the road outside/near my house.

And guess what I don’t give a shiny shit if anyone of my neighbors are pissed off with me, all my cars are taxed, mot’d and insured, and there are no parking restrictions on the road.

A family member's neighbours have three kids still living at home. They're grown up and have boyfriends.

They each have a car (so mum, dad, 3 kids) and the kids' boyfriends all have a car.

They also have a motorhome.

So 8 cars and 1 motorhome at any given time. And every summer they have family visiting from France, another big car.

Can never park! When the kids finally move out it'll get better.

Yikes I guess I should be grateful they only have 4 vehicles, I suppose it could be worse. Although I don't think you would be able to drive past if there was a motorhome parked on our street and a car on the other side of the road. There wouldn't be enough space to get down the road.

Obviously they're legally entitled to but YANBU it's selfish behaviour.

That's because you're a selfish dickhead. You might as well say I'll play my music all day, everyday in my garden and not give a shit who is pissed off. Yes you're legally entitled but it makes you a dick.

So you're just a selfish twat then? OK. There are lots of things which are legal but make you a shitty person. If you have more cars than people and you're preventing people parking near their own home find somewhere else to park some of your vehicles. Don't be so nasty.

I don’t know why people are so smug about their endless vehicles when the planet is basically going to be dead in 10 years. Good one! Bet your kids are going to thank you endlessly Hmm

My PIL have three cars, they do have a drive and lots of space outside there house. But they complain about the large family opposite who have lots of cars.

They also have two houses within miles of each other. Neither in a particularly habital condition.

This is one of those situations where they are legally right and morally wrong. It is selfish and if everyone had that many vehicles you wouldn't be able to drive anywhere as all the streets would be single lane to facilitate all the parking required.

I agree OP.

I find threads like this so frustrating as dorm people are so keen to declare that they don't give a crap that their selfish actions are negatively impacting others. It's obvious that some things in life are finite and yet people will insist that they are "entitled" to take much more than their share because it's legally allowed. When laws and rules inevitably have to be introduced in response to these piss takers then it inconveniences everyone and always costs a fortune. Whatever happened to taking some personal responsibility?

Not to mention the safety issues that can arise when our streets are clogged with parked cars and camper vans.

3 cars, 1 work van and only 2 of us here.

We also have an extra car at the weekend sometimes as my partner works on cars for a leAving and works from home sometimes and uses the drive for that 1 car so all the others have to go on the road.

Oh well.

The only solution is permit parking everywhere for anything over 4hrs and only two issued to each house.

We have the same problem and only have one tiny car. I wanted something like a Renault Captur but the thought of trying to park it round here put me off. And that's with much of one side of the road backing onto a school field so no houses even. Not helped by all the teenagers who lose the use of their legs as soon as they turn 17 - even though we live within TFL boundaries and have loads of public transport. Also the big 4x4s are beginning to appear now... Angry
