I am disabled following surgery a few years back - I did not recover from it as I should have. I usually see a consultant yearly at my nearest hospital but the only option is to redo the surgery and they say there is no guarantee I will be any better off. Last time - in August - he said he would refer me to a specialist in another city to see if he could do anything. My condition has got much worse in the last few months, so come March when I'd heard nothing I chased it up with Patient Feedback at my usual hospital. I also asked if this outside referral meant I would be taken off the list for the yearly consultant visit, and was told it would. I asked if I could be kept on that list. Last week I had a letter for the long-awaited appointment with the specialist in another city, this is a few weeks away. Today I had a call from my usual hospital offering me a cancellation with a consultant tomorrow (as per my usual yearly visits). I accepted it but wonder - surely they know I have the specialist appointment? I didn't say and figure that if I can see this person tomorrow, get x-rays etc, then hopefully I can get help sooner - and nearer (and could possibly cancel the specialist appointment). But I don't want to get in trouble for accepting both appointments ... any ideas?
