Actually, I have cried this morning. I'm waiting for an appointment at the breast clinic to investigate a lump. My DH is away with work (military). My great aunt died last week, I feel like I'm trying to move heaven and earth to get to her funeral (I'm in the south, it's in Scotland). I had it all sorted with the help of great friends having my 2 kids to stay over and get them to school etc. Now DS1 has woken up vomiting. I need to leave tomorrow night for the funeral but I can't leave him like this, although my friend says she'll happily have him and look after him, he needs his Mum. Icing on the cake - DS2's nursery were having a mother's day lunch today which he was so excited about. Now I can't go as I'm home with puking DS1. DS2 is heartbroken. I don't think I can take much more. I just want my DH here to help, I can't deal with all this on my own.

Oh you poor thing op you must feel totally overwhelmed. It sounds like you have some great friends there for you at least. Keep putting one foot in front of the other and know that this too shall pass.

Is there anyone to have ds1 whilst you go to ds2 lunch for an hr? If he’s snuggled on the sofa with sick bowl and tv maybe you could pop out for a little bit?
It maybe a 24hr thing so may be okay tomorrow for you to go to the funeral.
Grab yourself a brew give your ds a cuddle and have a cry. It’s okay 💐 xxx

Oh bless you 😕 it always happens all at once doesn’t it? Make use of the help you’ve been offered and as above, if you can nip out for the lunch while DS is settled with someone for an hour then go. It’s a lot to cope with on your own so sending hugs xx

You - and he - can ask the military to send him home, depending on what he's doing, albeit it may be too late now to get to the funeral.

By way of example, my DH flew home from the middle east when he was on a ship to his ex girlfriend to support her when she was ill and needed him there with her. SSAFA helped her with this and helped him het through to his seniors how important it was for her that he was there. He was flown back to the ship 6 weeks later.

It's not impossible.

Thanks all. I'm feeling better now - DS1 has stopped puking and is looking better. My lovely friend has just been in with chocolates, flowers and a magazine for DS. Given that he seems to be getting over it, going to the funeral should still be doable . It just all felt a bit too much this morning!

Oh what a horrible week. Can you get a friend to sit with ds1 for an hour whilst you popto the lunch. Then for the sake of your sanity have a think about wether you should go to the funeral and maybe give them a call as some do video links now so you can be there but not there in person.

Then take a damn big breath and organise some you time even if it’s nothing more than a glass of wine in the bath.
